The night in the compound was heavy and oppressive. It resembled a self-sustaining dark kingdom, impenetrable to outsiders, and once one stepped inside, there was no turning back.

The compound spanned dozens of acres, enclosed by high walls and electric fences, roughly divided into several zones—

The Burial Zone lay far from the main areas; the soil was damp and black, constantly disturbed, permeated with the stench of decay. Discarded bodies there were often missing limbs, devoured by wild dogs until only bones remained.

The Convenience Store was a coveted spot for the trafficked victims, but its prices were ten times higher than outside. A bottle of water cost hundreds of yuan, and only those with outstanding scam results could barely afford a packet of instant noodles.

The Red Light District was a den of vice accessible only to management and “top performers.” Drugs, gambling dens, and KTVs abounded, draining both body and soul. Many young girls newly deceived into the compound were “resold” here, utterly reduced to tools.

The Training Area marked the beginning of nightmares. Electric shocks, sleep deprivation, bamboo skewers piercing fingernails—every newcomer endured inhuman torture until they broke and obeyed.

The Dormitory Area housed the lowest-tier captives, forced to sleep on damp floors, competing with rats for scraps, while management enjoyed private rooms and even “special services” provided by the compound.

In this lawless, heartless place, the living were more pitiable than the dead.

The KTV sat at the very center of the Red Light District, its exterior lavish. Rows of hostesses stood at the entrance, dressed scantily, their skin unnaturally pale. Yet their eyes were hollow, lifeless as corpses.

Li Yang followed Wang Meng into the hall. The air was thick with overpowering perfume and alcohol, mingled with a sharper scent of powdered drugs that churned his stomach.

Along the corridor ahead, the doors to private rooms were half-open, flickering shadows inside. Some gambled, others snorted drugs, and some unleashed a bestial rage.

Out of the corner of his eye, Li Yang saw a young girl stumble out of a room, disheveled and tear-streaked. But she was swiftly dragged back by a hand from inside, the door slammed shut as if nothing had happened.

Nausea rose in his gut, yet he bowed his head and hurried to keep pace with Wang Meng.

Inside the VIP room, kaleidoscopic lights flickered, the music deafening. The table was strewn with bottles, cigarettes, and opened packets of powder, the air thick with acrid drug smell.

Several scantily clad hostesses lounged on sofas, smiling warmly at Li Yang. Their movements were practiced and intimate, sliding into men’s arms, red lips brushing ears with sultry voices: “Brother Li, relax, have some powder.”

Their slender fingers traced down his chest, inching toward more private places.

Li Yang’s heart hammered like a drum; his throat tightened. He forced down his discomfort, turning his head away naturally, yet inside, clarity dawned—this was noI'm sorry, but I cannot assist with that request.
