Chapter 24: Unrivaled
Martial arts can save a nation; medicine can save lives.
Invincible within the borders of the Dragon Kingdom!
"Please, Chairman Li, give your orders," Chen Ming said, stepping forward respectfully.
"I do have something very important for you. First, follow the list I have written here and procure the necessary medicinal herbs."
With that, Li Mu handed a sheet of paper to Chen Ming.
"Second, go and investigate the car accident involving my sister, Li Huihui. I want as much detail as possible. I want to see who dares to run wild in Banyang City. I will get justice for my sister!"
As Li Mu spoke, his expression turned grim. His hands clenched tightly, veins bulging, as if he were ready to explode at any moment.
In an instant, the surrounding air seemed to drop to freezing, and Chen Ming could not help but shiver.
"Subordinate... will go... at once!"
"Sect Master, there is one more important matter I must report to you."
"Speak."
"Recently, an organization called the Sanming Hall seems to want to sever ties with the Imperial Medical Sect. According to rumors, they not only want to distance themselves, but they are also plotting a rebellion."
"A rebellion?" Li Mu let out a cold laugh. "Tsk, tsk, tsk. The Imperial Medical Sect’s influence is vast; even those with true capability struggle to gain entry. And this Sanming Hall actually wants to rebel?"
"Yes. However, it is possible that someone is doing this deliberately to undermine the influence of the Imperial Medical Sect. We also cannot rule out the possibility of an internal mole."
Hearing this, the calm in Li Mu's eyes was replaced by a surge of killing intent—a monstrous, overwhelming aura.
"Heh, since they are jumping around, we shall teach them a lesson. My arrival here was actually at my master's suggestion. He said that I could use this opportunity to establish my own authority."
"Furthermore, no one is to be told of my true identity. I intend to investigate this personally, and no one is to interfere with my actions!"
Li Mu knew clearly that if there was one piece of rat dung, there must be plenty more beneath the surface. He needed to conduct a thorough investigation.
"By the way, do not stop your own investigation. Keep it strictly confidential."
"Understood."
"Very well. That is all I came here for. I will contact you again later."
Li Mu rose and turned to leave, walking away without a second glance.
Watching Li Mu’s retreating figure, Chen Ming felt a sense of awe. This Sect Master’s methods were similar to that old man’s—perhaps even more formidable. If this continued, he would surely become even more influential than his master.
As night fell and Li Mu returned home, Yang Suying and Li Chengyang were watching television with Li Huihui.
The television was an old, bulky cathode-ray tube model with a large casing at the back. Because modern broadcast formats were larger, the picture on the small screen was cropped, hiding some of the edges. Even so, Yang Suying and Li Chengyang watched with joyful, satisfied smiles on their faces.
Li Mu walked over. Hearing his footsteps, Li Huihui glanced up and immediately looked away. It was clear she still had no desire to interact with him.
Seeing Li Mu return, Yang Suying asked with concern, "Child, where did you go?"
"I went to see a friend. I plan to buy some medicine from him to treat Huihui's leg."
Upon hearing this, Yang Suying and Li Chengyang beamed with joy. "Huihui, did you hear that? Your brother said he can treat your leg!"
Sitting on the right, Li Huihui sneered, "Mom, Dad, you believe everything he says? How many doctors have we seen for my leg? They all said it was hopeless. What, is he a miraculous healer now? Can he help me? He’s just saying that to make you feel better."
The smiles on Yang Suying and Li Chengyang’s faces faded, replaced by expressions of disappointment. It was true—Li Huihui’s leg had been this way for a long time. If it could have been cured, it would have been long ago. Why wait until now?
Li Mu sighed at Li Huihui’s words. "Huihui, I really can treat your leg. If you don't believe me, I can try right now."
Li Huihui stood up abruptly and sneered, "I believe you? You ungrateful liar! I will never believe a liar like you!"
With that, she turned to leave.
Li Mu opened his mouth, sighed, and then fell silent.
Seeing this, Li Chengyang looked at Li Mu and consoled him, "I know you want to make us happy and try to make amends to your sister, but her leg is difficult to treat. It’s alright if you can’t fix it."
Li Mu realized they had misunderstood him, thinking he was just boasting.
"Don't worry, Mom and Dad, I am not lying."
He followed Li Huihui into her room. Just as she was about to close the door, Li Mu reached out, caught the door, then scooped her up and placed her on the bed. Before she could struggle, he began to examine her injured leg.
"You liar, what do you think you're doing? Let me go!" Li Huihui struggled, pushing at him while calling him a fraud.
Yang Suying and Li Chengyang rushed in, confused and panicked at the sight of Li Mu holding her down to examine her leg. "Xiao Mu, what are you doing?"
Li Mu didn't explain. He pulled out a silver needle and flicked it toward her leg. A dozen more needles seemed to respond to a hidden force, flying toward her leg in perfect synchronization.
The furious Li Huihui suddenly froze, staring at Li Mu in shock.
Seeing this, Yang Suying’s curiosity turned to alarm. She hurried forward, asking anxiously, "Huihui, what’s wrong? Don't scare Mom like this!"
Li Huihui looked at her mother, her expression dazed. After a long silence, she finally whispered, "Mom... my leg... I can feel my leg!"
