Chapter 29: Stubbornness
Upon hearing Li Mu’s words, the old man’s initial contempt vanished, replaced by shock and pleasant surprise. He stood up immediately and walked shakily toward Li Mu.
"Young master! You are absolutely right! Not a single word was off!"
The old man was overjoyed. He had not expected Li Mu to speak with such pinpoint accuracy, as if he had calculated it all. Li Mu was truly a divine man. He had sought out many masters before, including those who collaborated with the Baili family, but none of them could provide a clear explanation. Yet today, he had encountered Li Mu, who had laid it all out.
Li Mu looked at the old man. "Your problem is actually not major, and I do have a solution. However... are you aware of the fee I require?"
The old man nodded. "Of course I am. Please rest assured, young master. If this succeeds, I will personally deliver the fifty million to you."
Li Mu nodded. "Since you are so sincere, old man, I will help you now." He pointed to the chair the old man was sitting on. "Burn the chair you are sitting on, and while you are at it, uproot the fortune-bringing tree outside your courtyard, burn it, and drink the ashes mixed in water."
"What?" The old man looked incredulous. "Master, are you sure you aren't joking with me? I spent a fortune to get this chair. I pulled many strings with my friends to acquire it. I cherish it dearly and even have someone come to repair it every month. You want me to just burn it?"
Li Mu nodded. "Yes, the problem lies within the chair. You must burn it immediately."
Upon hearing this, the old man’s surprise turned into suspicion, even a hint of chill. "Young master, are you playing with me?"
Baili Yanhong, seeing her grandfather's attitude, looked at Li Mu. "Master, this chair is my grandfather’s favorite. It took an immense amount of effort to acquire, and it is worth a fortune. We cannot just dispose of it like this. So... how can you be certain that this chair is the problem?"
Li Mu’s lips curled into a smirk. "How interesting. If you don't trust me, why did you ask me to come? Hah, since you don't believe me, I will be leaving." He added, "By the way, if this chair is not burned within three days, it won't just be a minor incident anymore; it might even cost you your life."
With that, Li Mu turned and walked toward the exit of the villa. Baili Yanhong went to chase him, but was stopped by the old man. "Little Yanhong, where did this person come from? I think he is just a charlatan. Talking about three days—I think he’s just here to swindle the Baili family’s money! I want to see what kind of accident could possibly happen in three days..."
Before the old man could finish his sentence, the chandelier overhead began to sway, and in the next second, it crashed down.
Baili Yanhong reacted quickly, instinctively trying to push the old man away, but it was too late; the old man's leg was struck. His leg bone fractured instantly, and he let out a miserable scream.
"What are you standing there for?" Baili Yanhong shouted. "Hurry and rescue my grandfather!"
The bodyguards reacted at once, rushing to pull the chandelier away as Baili Yanhong helped the old man up. The old man was trembling all over, his leg a bloody mess from the impact. Yet, he anxiously commanded, "Quickly, invite that master back!"
Seeing the old man in this state, Baili Yanhong said with a pained heart, "Grandfather, your leg?"
"I'm fine! Bring him back! Now! Immediately!"
It was the first time Baili Yanhong had seen her grandfather in such a state. Terrified, she dared not linger and ran toward the door.
Li Mu was in no rush, sauntering along slowly. His ears twitched as he heard footsteps behind him, followed by Baili Yanhong’s urgent voice: "Master, wait for me!"
Li Mu pretended not to hear and continued walking, listening to the commotion behind him. Baili Yanhong ran for some distance and, seeing no sign of Li Mu stopping, gritted her teeth and blocked his path. She was gasping for air, and in her cheongsam, she looked even more captivating.
"Master, please stop. Let me explain..."
Li Mu waved his hand, cutting her off. "It’s fine. I understand that you didn't believe me. Please don't come looking for me again; I have other matters to attend to."
Seeing his attitude, Baili Yanhong’s expression turned helpless and bitter. She pleaded, "Master, my grandfather was injured just now. Please, could you come back with us? We will add another twenty million to your fee."
Seeing Li Mu remain silent, Baili Yanhong took a deep breath, a blush appearing on her beautiful face. "Master, if you can save my grandfather... I... I can... become... yours..."
Having said that, she reached out and guided Li Mu’s hand to a certain part of her body. Li Mu’s mind went blank for a second. *Good grief, this Baili Yanhong is quite forward.*
Li Mu nodded. *First time handling things this way, not bad at all.* He reached out and touched her, causing Baili Yanhong’s face to turn even redder, her body trembling from his touch.
Li Mu’s lips curled. "It would be better if you let go."
Baili Yanhong lowered her head, blushing.
"Tsk tsk tsk, not bad, but still missing a little something."
With that, he turned and walked away, leaving a stunned Baili Yanhong behind. She did not understand his words, but she understood the rest. Li Mu had said, "Fine, since you are so sincere, I will reluctantly help you."
Baili Yanhong watched his retreating figure, dazed for a moment, but remembering her grandfather’s condition, she quickly stood up and ran after him.
The two returned to the villa to find the old man lying on the sofa, twitching in pain. Seeing Li Mu, the old man wore a look of helplessness. "Master, I was presumptuous earlier. Please forgive me. As long as you can help, the Baili family will accept any conditions."
Li Mu glanced at the old man. "Wouldn't it have been better to just listen earlier? Why go through all this trouble?"
The old man offered a bitter smile.
Li Mu stepped forward and examined the broken bone. "Forget it. For the sake of your granddaughter’s sincere pleading, I will help you this once."
He pulled a needle from his pocket and flicked it onto the old man’s body. The old man trembled violently from the pain, but in the next second, a warm current flowed through his body. Wherever the warmth touched, the bleeding ceased instantly. Li Mu pinched his fingers, and the broken bone emitted a "crack-crack" sound.
The old man gritted his teeth, sweat pouring down his face, but he did not let out a single sound. Just as he was about to reach his limit, the warm current returned, and he realized with shock that his leg no longer hurt.
