Between meditations, Song Yuqi slowly opened her eyes. Hu Yuan hurriedly asked, “Yuqi, you’re awake!”
Song Yuqi pretended to shake her head, showing signs of a headache. “My head hurts so much.”
“You’re fine now. I saved you both.”
“You saved us? I remember you were pinned down and beaten by Xing Tiankai’s men. You begged for mercy, and then he let you go, and you ran away.”
Hu Yuan quickly explained, “After I ran out, I called for backup. I led people to take down Xing Tiankai’s men. I even gave Xing Tiankai a harsh lesson—he knelt and begged for mercy before I let him go.”
Song Yuqi nodded silently, but inwardly she looked down on Hu Yuan. This guy sure knew how to brag. Clearly a coward afraid of death, yet he insisted on painting himself as a superhero. Still, she didn’t want to expose him.
At the same time, Jiang Ruoxi also woke up. Upon realizing she was at home, she was quite surprised.
“Who saved us?” Jiang Ruoxi asked.
Hu Yuan smiled, “Of course it was me. Who else could it be?”
Song Yuqi chimed in, “It really was Hu Yuan who saved us. If it weren’t for him, we would have been doomed.”
Jiang Ruoxi’s eyes brightened with newfound respect. She hadn’t expected this guy to be so brave. Maybe she should consider giving him a chance.
“Hu Yuan, I’m truly grateful. I will always remember this kindness,” she said.
Ruoxi, don’t be so formal,” Hu Yuan replied, gazing at Jiang Ruoxi with affection. “You know how I feel about you. I’m willing to give everything for you, even my life. I would never allow anyone to harm you.”
Jiang Ruoxi was deeply touched. In times of crisis, one’s true character shines through. It seemed Hu Yuan’s feelings for her were genuine.
Song Yuqi said nothing, but felt disgusted inside. If she weren’t afraid of dragging Han Yang into it, she would have exposed him.
Song Yuqi spoke up, “Enough of that. We should discuss how to handle what comes next. Xing Tiankai is backed by the Wei Hu Gang. Since you beat him up, he will definitely come after you.”
“Don’t worry. I have my own ways to handle it,” Hu Yuan said calmly, unfazed.
In truth, Han Yang was the one who had beaten Xing Tiankai and his men. If Xing Tiankai sought revenge, he would go after Han Yang—not them. Hu Yuan was secretly pleased. Although Han Yang saved them, Hu Yuan took all the credit. When Xing Tiankai came for revenge, he would target Hu Yuan. Han Yang was doomed. Hu Yuan was clever—he had eliminated Han Yang without lifting a finger.
Song Yuqi looked at Hu Yuan. “You have a plan?”
“Yes, I’ve already figured it out. I’ll use the influence of the Hu family to settle everything. You don’t need to worry.”
Song Yuqi hummed in response, saying no more.
Jiang Ruoxi said, “Thank you so much. I don’t even know what to say.”
“Oh, don’t be so formal. We’re family; there’s no need for that.”
After chatting a while, Hu Yuan left. Though he had been beaten up today, it was worth it—at least he had won Jiang Ruoxi’s heart. Hu Yuan had a strong feeling he would soon win her over. The thought made him extremely excited.

The next morning, after breakfast, Han Yang planned to visit Jiang Ruoxi’s home. Since it was the weekend, they should all be at home.
About half an hour later, Han Yang arrived at the Jiang residence. After parking, he began knocking on the door.
Soon, Song Lingling opened it. “Mr. Han, you’re here.”
“Is Jiang Ruoxi home?”
“She is. Come in.”
Song Lingling led Han Yang into the villa.
Jiang Youyou saw Han Yang and immediately rushed over. “Uncle Jiang, you’re here!”
“Yeah, did you miss me?”
“Missed you!”
Han Yang smiled and ruffled Youyou’s little head.
Jiang Ruoxi looked surprised. “Why are you here? How did you know where I live?”
“When I brought you back last night, you were still unconscious, so I came to check on you.”
“You were the one who brought us back?” Jiang Ruoxi’s face was full of astonishment.
Han Yang replied, “Yes. Last night, after rescuing you and Song Yuqi from the Jiujiang club, I called Youyou. She gave me your address, so I brought you home.”
Jiang Ruoxi’s expression grew complicated. Wasn’t Hu Yuan the one who saved them? How did it turn out to be Han Yang?
She instinctively glanced at Song Yuqi, who feigned ignorance.
“Wait, how did you know we were at the Jiujiang club?”
“Song Yuqi sent me a message!” Han Yang shrugged.
Song Yuqi quickly added, “I did message Han Yang, but I don’t know who actually saved us. I passed out.”
“What do you mean by that? If I didn’t save you, then who did?” Han Yang rolled his eyes.
Jiang Ruoxi said, “Hu Yuan said he saved us.”
“Hu Yuan? Don’t make me laugh. I didn’t even see him when I went there.”
Jiang Ruoxi was utterly confused; she didn’t know whom to believe.
At that moment, Jiang Youyou said, “Mom! It was Uncle Han Yang who drove you and Aunt Song back last night. Both Lingling and I can vouch for that.”
Song Lingling agreed, “Youyou’s right. That’s exactly what happened.”
Jiang Ruoxi then looked at Song Yuqi, “Could it be that Hu Yuan lied to us?”
“I don’t know either,” Song Yuqi answered.
Just then, Hu Yuan entered holding a large bouquet of roses. Seeing Han Yang’s car outside, he immediately stormed in.
“Han Yang, what are you doing here?”
“Did you tell them you were the one who saved them?” Han Yang glanced sideways at Hu Yuan.
Hu Yuan indignantly said, “I didn’t save them! Didn’t I just have you drive them back? Are you trying to claim credit and take all the glory?”
Han Yang sneered but didn’t respond.
Jiang Ruoxi approached. “Hu Yuan, what really happened?”
“I was fighting Xing Tiankai’s men last night when Han Yang showed up. I told him to take you and Song Yuqi away while I stayed to fight. I gave Xing Tiankai a harsh lesson—I beat him until he knelt and begged for mercy. That’s what happened.”
“I see,” Jiang Ruoxi mused.
Han Yang laughed loudly. “Ha! I’ve never seen anyone so shameless. When I arrived, you were already gone. And you have the nerve to claim you were fighting Xing Tiankai’s men? That’s hilarious.”
“Han Yang, you’re shameless! You slapped me yesterday, and I didn’t hold it against you. Given the crisis, I chose to trust you and entrusted you with Ruoxi and Song Yuqi. But to think you’d come here to brag about saving them? You have no shame,” Hu Yuan argued passionately.
Just as Han Yang was about to reply, Jiang Ruoxi snapped, “Enough! Shut up. I never expected you to be this kind of person. Leave my house now. I don’t want to see you.”
“Jiang Ruoxi, you really are foolish to believe him. But whatever, I just came to check on you. If you don’t want to see me, I don’t want to see you either.” With that, Han Yang prepared to leave.

In this situation, Song Yuqi felt very uncomfortable. She knew the truth but stayed silent to avoid dragging Han Yang into trouble. But now the misunderstanding between Han Yang and Jiang Ruoxi was growing.
Jiang Youyou’s illness hadn’t fully healed yet. They still needed to rely on Han Yang.
Song Yuqi was about to speak when loud banging came from the door.
“Jiang Ruoxi, come out now!”
Hearing the noise, everyone stepped outside the villa.
Many luxury cars were parked outside.
Chen Hu, leader of the Wei Hu Gang, arrived with dozens of henchmen.
Seeing Chen Hu, Jiang Ruoxi and the others were shocked. His presence was overwhelming.
Chen Hu glared fiercely, “Who crippled my godson last night? Step forward!”
Jiang Ruoxi and Song Yuqi both looked toward Hu Yuan.
Hu Yuan trembled all over. This was bad.
Why did Chen Hu come at such a terrible time?
“Young Master Hu, why are you frozen? Admit it! Repeat what you said before!” Han Yang teased, watching Hu Yuan.
Hu Yuan stammered, “I... I...”
“Forget it, I’ll say it for you,” Han Yang shouted toward Chen Hu. “Boss Chen, it was this guy who crippled Xing Tiankai last night and took out his men. He bravely saved the two beautiful ladies.”
“No... it’s not like that...” Hu Yuan’s voice trembled.
Han Yang retorted, “Why not? We all heard you say you fought Xing Tiankai’s men and saved Jiang Ruoxi and Song Yuqi. You even said you beat Xing Tiankai until he knelt begging for mercy.”
Before Hu Yuan could speak, Chen Hu yelled, “Damn it! You dared to cripple my godson? Beat him to death!”
With a wave of his hand, dozens of men charged forward.
Han Yang wisely stepped aside.
Song Yuqi grabbed Jiang Ruoxi to dodge as well.
Chen Hu’s men began to beat Hu Yuan mercilessly.
Hu Yuan fled, clutching his head and begging for mercy.
Han Yang crossed his arms, smirking. “Young Master Hu, why don’t you show us that heroic side you had last night? Where’s your heroism in saving the beauties?”
“Ah... stop hitting me... stop... I’m telling the truth... I didn’t cripple Xing Tiankai last night... please let me go...” Hu Yuan pleaded.
Chen Hu made a gesture, and his men stopped.
“The one who crippled my godson wasn’t you?”
Hu Yuan knelt on the ground, his face swollen and bruised. He looked up at Chen Hu.
“Boss Chen, after Xing Tiankai taught me a lesson last night, I ran away. Han Yang was the one who crippled Xing Tiankai and saved Jiang Ruoxi and Song Yuqi. It has nothing to do with me. Please go punish Han Yang. Don’t hit me anymore,” Hu Yuan sobbed, pointing at Han Yang.
Jiang Ruoxi’s face suddenly changed. So this was the truth. Han Yang was really the one who saved them last night.
Recalling her earlier attitude toward Han Yang, she felt ashamed.
Han Yang looked at Jiang Ruoxi and Song Yuqi. “Heard that? Who’s lying?”
Jiang Ruoxi lowered her head in shame.
Song Yuqi, however, looked worried. She knew Han Yang was in trouble.
