Chapter Ten: Simply a Disgrace to the Jiang Family

Shen Suining’s phone suddenly rang. She handed the report to Jiang Kun and stepped aside to answer the call. The caller was Pei Min, Jiang Runlang’s mother, Shen Suining’s mother-in-law.
As soon as the call connected, Pei Min’s angry voice reached Shen Suining’s ears. “Shen Suining, how can you be so useless! Why didn’t you attend the parent-child event at Jiang Jiang’s kindergarten? Letting a lowly mistress steal the spotlight— you’ve completely disgraced our Jiang family!”
Clutching her phone tightly, Shen Suining found herself too weary even to defend herself against Pei Min’s scolding. Pei Min didn’t wait for a response and issued a command instead: “Shen Suining! No matter where you are now, come back immediately! There’s a charity gala tomorrow, and you will attend with Xiaolang.”
Without waiting for a reply, Pei Min abruptly hung up. Shen Suining pressed her lips tightly and slid the now-locked phone back into her bag. When she lifted her eyes, they met Jiang Kun’s dark, unfathomable gaze.
In that moment, Shen Suining felt utterly exhausted; she no longer wished to engage with Jiang Kun. All she wanted was to digest everything that had happened over these past two days alone.
So when Jiang Yinuo eagerly opened his arms, inviting her warmly to go home with him, Shen Suining gave him a slight smile but refused firmly, “Sorry, Yinuo, I have something to do and can’t go with you.”
Jiang Yinuo frowned in disappointment and looked at her sadly, as if abandoned. Jiang Kun saw how bad Shen Suining’s mood was and didn’t force her. Instead, he gently comforted, “Yinuo, remember what we promised before we came back—we have to make Mommy happy.”
Pouting, Jiang Yinuo’s small head drooped as he leaned against Jiang Kun’s neck, whispering, “Okay.”
Jiang Kun rubbed the back of Yinuo’s head silently, soothing him with quiet affection. Turning to Shen Suining, he asked softly, “Suining, where are you going? We’ll take you.”
Surprised that Jiang Kun agreed to let her leave, Shen Suining shook her head immediately. “No need. I’ll take a taxi by myself.”
She just wanted to be alone. Seeing her insistence, Jiang Kun said nothing more. The three of them left the hospital together, but Shen Suining did not follow Jiang Kun and Jiang Yinuo to the parking lot; instead, she walked straight to the hospital entrance.

Jiang Yinuo watched Shen Suining’s retreating figure and pitifully asked Jiang Kun, “Daddy, does Mommy not like us?”
Though young, he was sensitive and perceptive enough to notice Shen Suining’s mood. Jiang Kun comforted him by patting his head, “No, Mommy just needs some time. Let’s wait for her, okay?”
Trusting his father completely, Jiang Yinuo nodded but still asked, “When will we see Mommy again?”
He didn’t want to be apart from her for even a moment. Jiang Kun answered, “Very soon.”
Only then did Jiang Yinuo break into a smile and kissed his father’s cheek, saying, “Daddy’s the best.”
Jiang Kun’s heart melted completely. This was his child with Shen Suining. For the past four years, circumstances had forced him to keep them apart. Now that he was back, he would never let them be separated again. These two people were the most important in his life; he would ensure their eternal happiness.

Shen Suining sat in the taxi, uncertain of where to go. In the vast Ning City, there was no place for her to call home.
Since she could remember, she had lived with her grandmother. When she attended university, her grandmother moved to Ning City to accompany her. But five years ago, when her grandmother fell ill, Shen Suining gave up the apartment they rented together and married Jiang Runlang, after which she lived in the Dijing Mansion.
Her grandmother was placed by the Jiang family in a hospital they invested in. Now, even if Shen Suining wanted to visit her, she couldn’t. She had lied to Jiang Runlang about being in Ruicheng; if she went to the hospital, Jiang Runlang would certainly find out.
Lost and confused in the taxi, her phone rang again. This time, the caller was Ye Pianpian, Shen Suining’s only friend in Ning City.
“Hello, Pianpian,” Shen Suining’s tired voice came through the receiver, startling Ye Pianpian.
“Suining, what’s wrong? Why do you sound like that? Did someone bully you?” Ye Pianpian was like a firecracker, always ready to explode.
Shen Suining hurriedly denied it, her voice flat. “Nothing, just didn’t rest well.”

Ye Pianpian said, “You scared me! If you’re okay, where are you now?”
Shen Suining wanted to lie, but before she could, Ye Pianpian said, “Suining, be honest with me! You know I have a habit of checking surveillance footage!”
Shen Suining was momentarily helpless; she had genuinely forgotten about that. After a few seconds of silence, she said, “I’m coming to see you.”
Ye Pianpian replied, “Okay, I’ll wait!”
After hanging up, Shen Suining told the driver to head to Pianpian’s Dance Bar.
Pushing open the door to Ye Pianpian’s office, Shen Suining saw Ye Pianpian with her arms crossed, looking at her. When she took in Shen Suining’s outfit, Ye Pianpian raised an eyebrow and playfully whistled.
“Wow! Our stunning, elegant Shen Suining beauty is back!” Ye Pianpian said.
She walked over to Shen Suining and circled her. “The latest limited edition from D brand, Suining, tell me honestly, where did you get this outfit?”
Ye Pianpian knew Shen Suining too well. Even after marrying Jiang Runlang, she hadn’t indulged in luxury and was practically a novice when it came to high-end brands. Especially since returning to work a year ago, Shen Suining favored practical and low-key sportswear or durable, dirt-resistant jackets.
Now, suddenly dressed in an outfit that even wealthy socialites would envy, Ye Pianpian’s curiosity was piqued. Moreover, she had reviewed the bar’s surveillance carefully—her dear Suining had quietly done something big.
Meeting Ye Pianpian’s gaze, Shen Suining knew if she didn’t confess, Ye Pianpian would concoct an even more dramatic story. She raised her hands in surrender and recounted everything that had happened over the past two days in detail.
Ye Pianpian listened in stunned silence. Her beautiful eyes widened as she asked for confirmation, “So, Jiang Runlang is your nominal husband, but Jiang Kun is your real man?”
