Jiang Yinuo’s words startled Grandma again and again.

At the same time, they startled Shen Suining as well.

She regretted forgetting to tell Jiang Yinuo about this earlier. Grandma was getting on in years, and Shen Suining still had not figured out how to introduce Jiang Cheng and Jiang Yinuo to her.

Now, faced with Grandma’s searching gaze, Shen Suining felt her scalp prickle.

Yet that was not all.

Jiang Cheng had already walked in from outside.

As he drew nearer, Shen Suining wished she could bury her chin in her chest. She truly did not dare look at Grandma’s expression.

As fate would have it, whether intentionally or not, Jiang Cheng walked over to Shen Suining and immediately wrapped an arm around her waist.

Shen Suining instinctively tried to move away, but Jiang Cheng held her firmly.

Looking at Grandma with a gentle expression, Jiang Cheng introduced himself. “Grandma, hello. I’m Jiang Cheng, Suisui’s boyfriend.”

Shen Suining’s heart leaped into her throat. If she had been a furry little animal, her fur would surely have been standing on end by now.

She was even less willing to look at Grandma.

But by then, she had no way to avoid it.

Grandma called her name sternly. “Suisui!”

She nearly sat bolt upright in bed and rebuked Shen Suining sharply. “Suisui! Is this how I raised you? How could you do such a thing?”

She had cheated during her marriage—and even had such a grown child!

How could she…

How could she…

Grandma’s breathing suddenly grew labored. Shen Suining had no choice but to look at her, meeting her stern gaze.

In an instant, Shen Suining forgot everything else and hurriedly said, “Grandma, it isn’t what you think! Please listen to me!”

She immediately explained the entire matter to Grandma in detail.

At first, Grandma was still furious and could not take in a word Shen Suining said.

Only after a while did she gradually calm down.

Even so, she continued to regard Shen Suining with deep suspicion. “You mean Jiangjiang isn’t your daughter, and this little boy is your son?”

No matter how one looked at it, the whole thing was absurd!

“Grandma, I’ve already had a paternity test done with Yinuo. He really is my son,” Shen Suining said.

Grandma was silent for several seconds before asking, “Then have you had one done with Jiangjiang?”

Shen Suining was at a loss for words.

She really had not.

During this period, things had been extremely unpleasant between her and Jiang Runlang, as well as between her and Jiangjiang. How could she possibly have found an opportunity to arrange a paternity test?

Grandma said, “We can’t simply listen to his side of the story. Jiangjiang looks so much like you. How could she possibly not be your daughter?”

That was rather unreasonable.

Shen Suining knew Grandma was prejudiced against Jiang Cheng and was deliberately saying this because of it.

Not wanting to argue with her, Shen Suining simply said, “Grandma, once you’re settled overseas, I’ll immediately go back and have a paternity test done with Jiangjiang. Is that all right?”

Grandma was not deliberately trying to make things difficult for Shen Suining. She simply felt that the entire matter was far too absurd.

What was more, Jiang Cheng gave her the impression of being deeply calculating. Her innocent Suisui could never be his match if he was deliberately scheming against her.

Grandma had wanted to speak with Jiang Cheng privately, but unfortunately, her physical condition would not allow it.

She had only just regained consciousness, and already she could no longer keep her eyes open.

Watching Grandma fall into unconsciousness once again, Shen Suining’s heart grew even heavier.

The periods during which Grandma remained conscious were becoming shorter and shorter.

She was truly worried about her.

And this time, during the brief period she had been awake, Grandma’s emotions had risen and fallen so dramatically because of Shen Suining’s affairs. The thought filled Shen Suining with guilt.

Jiang Cheng put an arm around Shen Suining’s shoulders. “Let Grandma get some proper rest. Don’t worry. I’ll do everything I can to help her recover.”

Shen Suining looked up at Jiang Cheng, and the heaviness in her heart eased considerably under his reassurance.

She thanked him, then said, “I want to stay with Grandma.”

Jiang Cheng had no objection. He merely lifted a hand and soothingly stroked the back of Shen Suining’s head. “Then Yinuo and I will go see what there is for lunch. We’ll come back and call you when it’s ready.”

Shen Suining nodded and smiled at him.

He truly respected her.

Aside from the first time, when he had deliberately frightened her over the phone and forced her to divorce Jiang Runlang, Jiang Cheng had never done anything to put her in a difficult position.

The tenderness he gave her was simply too much.

Jiang Cheng took Jiang Yinuo by the hand and walked out of the lounge.

Only after the door closed did Jiang Yinuo cautiously raise his little face and ask worriedly, “Dad, does Grandma not like us?”

If that was the case, would he still be able to live with Mom?

His chubby little face scrunched up into a ball. He looked so aggrieved that it was impossible not to feel sorry for him.

Jiang Cheng placed his warm palm on top of Jiang Yinuo’s head and ruffled his hair. “Of course not. Your grandma just isn’t familiar with us yet. Once she’s feeling better and spends more time with you, she’ll come to like you very much.”

Jiang Yinuo had always trusted Jiang Cheng completely. Hearing this, his scrunched-up face immediately relaxed.

With a slightly smug air, he said, “Who can resist a good little boy as lovable as me?”

Jiang Cheng was amused by his ridiculous expression.

Before Jiang Cheng could say anything, Jiang Yinuo suddenly put on a worried look and stared at him.

Jiang Cheng raised his brows slightly, and an ominous premonition surfaced in his mind.

Surely this little fellow was not about to say something painful.

A father knew his son best.

Sure enough, the next moment Jiang Yinuo asked, “But Dad, what if Grandma only likes me and doesn’t like you?”

Jiang Cheng was rendered speechless.

Clearly, that was exactly what would happen.

If the old woman’s health had permitted it, he would probably be facing her interrogation alone right now.

Jiang Cheng could already imagine that, for a long time to come, she would not give him a pleasant look.

Naturally, he was not about to tell Jiang Yinuo that.

Evidently, Jiang Yinuo did not need him to answer, either.

He patted his own forehead and said, “I’ve got it!”

Jiang Cheng raised a brow again, certain that Jiang Yinuo was about to say something outrageous.

And sure enough, the boy did not disappoint him.

With an unbearably pleased expression, Jiang Yinuo said, “As long as Grandma likes me and lets me live with Mom, I’ll be perfectly satisfied. Dad, you can go work hard on your own!”

Jiang Cheng ground his teeth.

What an ungrateful son!

He had never disciplined the boy properly, and now the boy had forgotten that he could be a strict father too!

He actually wanted to abandon him and live with his Suisui. Had he given him permission?

A cold glint flashed through Jiang Cheng’s eyes. His tone remained even, yet Jiang Yinuo could hear the undercurrent of danger beneath it.

“Jiang Yinuo, if you dare talk nonsense again, believe me, I’ll send you to live overseas all by yourself.”
