Ye Pianpian said, “I just called my brother’s assistant. Something came up this morning, so they’ll be a little late. Let’s wait here for a while and have him treat us to lunch when he gets back.”
Shen Suining smiled as she watched Ye Pianpian. It was obvious from her manner that the siblings shared a close bond.
Shen Suining could not help but be affected by it, and her mood brightened as well.
Just then, her phone rang.
It was Pei Min.
Shen Suining’s expression immediately grew solemn.
She did not delay and answered the call.
Pei Min’s sharp voice came through the receiver. “Shen Suining! Did you take everything I said as a joke? You still haven’t shown up. Are you trying to turn the whole world upside down?”
Shen Suining replied, “Mom, I’m already in Ningcheng.”
Only then did Pei Min’s attitude improve slightly, though her tone remained harsh. “Then hurry back here! Are you planning to attend the banquet covered in mud again? Let me tell you, the Jiang family cannot afford to be humiliated like that!”
Shen Suining lowered her eyes and glanced at her clothes. She was wearing a brown tracksuit, which indeed was not suitable for attending a banquet.
But she truly did not want to return to the Jiang family’s old residence. Since she had already made up her mind to divorce Jiang Runlang, Shen Suining found a little courage and stood her ground.
She said, “Mom, I’ll get everything ready. I’m not going back.”
Without waiting for Pei Min to say anything else, Shen Suining hung up.
Ye Pianpian stared at her in surprise and gave her a thumbs-up.
“Not bad, Sui-Sui, darling! Now that you’re getting divorced, your back has finally straightened. You should have done this long ago instead of letting them walk all over you!” Ye Pianpian said.
This was the first time Shen Suining had spoken to Pei Min in such a manner. Rather than feeling relieved, however, her petite face tightened with worry.
“I just don’t know whether she’ll take her anger out on my grandmother.”
“Hey, why worry about that?” Ye Pianpian said dismissively. “We live in a society governed by law. What illegal thing could she possibly do? If she dares, I’ll find someone to expose her online. The internet’s outrage alone could drown her.”
Only then did Shen Suining relax. She nodded and smiled at Ye Pianpian.
“Pianpian, it’s wonderful having you around.”
Ye Pianpian proudly puffed out her chest. “You’re only realizing that now? I’m your very best friend!”

There was tenderness in Shen Suining’s eyes. With her grandmother and Ye Pianpian by her side, she was already content.
Without either of them realizing it, this scene fell into the eyes of someone who had just arrived, becoming a breathtaking sight that would remain in his memory for a long time.
As Shen Suining and Ye Pianpian chatted, a tall, slender figure approached.
The moment Ye Pianpian looked up, she sprang from the sofa and leaped onto him like a koala.
“Brother!”
Although they were biological siblings, she had not seen her brother for nearly a month.
Ye Yanze gently patted Ye Pianpian’s back and said softly, “All right. We’re in public, so mind your image.”
Only then did Ye Pianpian climb down. She wrinkled her little nose and complained, “Brother, I’m your own sister. Are you saying you find me annoying?”
“Of course not, of course not,” Ye Yanze immediately replied. “Our esteemed little princess—how could your brother ever find you annoying?”
Ye Pianpian raised her chin smugly. “Hmph. That’s more like it.”
Shen Suining watched them tenderly, her mood unconsciously brightening along with theirs.
Ye Pianpian linked her arm through Ye Yanze’s and pulled him down to sit beside her. Then she introduced him.
“Brother, this is the best friend I told you about—Shen Suining.”
“Sui-Sui, this is my brother, Ye Yanze.”
Shen Suining gave Ye Yanze a slight nod. “Young Master Ye, it’s a pleasure to meet you.”
Ye Yanze smiled, as refreshing as a spring breeze. “Since you’re Pianpian’s friend, you can call me Brother just like she does. There’s no need to be so formal.”
Shen Suining paused, then merely smiled without answering.
She could not take another person’s courtesy seriously.
Ye Yanze did not mind. He went straight to the point.
“Pianpian said you wanted me to represent you in your lawsuit.”
Shen Suining nodded and explained her situation to Ye Yanze truthfully.
“I only want what rightfully belongs to me. I don’t need anything else.”
“That’s simple enough,” Ye Yanze said. “Don’t worry. I’ll make sure you secure the greatest benefit possible.”

Hearing this, Shen Suining thought of how troublesome the Jiang family could be and was about to say there was no need.
But Ye Pianpian spoke first.
“Brother, I’m counting on you. I’m entrusting Sui-Sui to you completely, so don’t let me down.”
Ye Yanze lifted a hand and patted the top of Ye Pianpian’s head.
“What nonsense. When have I ever let you down?”
Ye Pianpian tilted her head and pretended to think. Then she said, “Now that you mention it, you really haven’t!”
Ye Yanze turned back to Shen Suining.
“Since you’ve made up your mind, why don’t we go to the law firm now and fill out the necessary paperwork?”
Shen Suining nodded and readily agreed.
The three of them entered the law firm together. Ye Yanze personally received them, causing quite a stir inside the office.
Everyone knew that ever since Ye Yanze had returned to the country, he rarely accepted cases unless they were major or exceptionally significant.
Yet now he had personally brought two young, beautiful women into his office. It was practically impossible for people not to gossip.
Still, even those who tried asking Ye Yanze’s assistant could not find out what was really going on.
Three hours later, Ye Yanze personally saw Shen Suining and Ye Pianpian out.
As they waited for the elevator, Ye Pianpian pouted unhappily.
“Brother, I was going to make you treat Sui-Sui and me to lunch. Now you’ve gotten off far too easily.”
Shen Suining had to attend a charity banquet that evening, so she needed to hurry off for her hair and makeup. Ye Pianpian was worried about letting her go alone and insisted on accompanying her.
Unfortunately, her plan to fleece Ye Yanze over a meal had been ruined.
Ye Yanze gave a helpless, low laugh, took a bank card from his pocket, and handed it to her.
“All right. Stop using those little schemes of yours to take advantage of your brother. Take this card. I’ll pay for everything you spend today.”
Ye Pianpian finally smiled in satisfaction and snatched the bank card from his hand.
“You really are my beloved brother! Then I won’t hold back! I’ve had my eye on a gown for ages, and Sui-Sui will absolutely stun all of Ningcheng once she puts it on. Since you’re being so generous, I’ll buy it without mercy!”
Ye Yanze fondly stroked her smooth hair and said gently, “Go ahead. If it isn’t enough, just ask your brother for more.”
