Chapter 24 A Gold Medal for Each!
The driver opened the box, and in an instant, dazzling golden light nearly blinded everyone present.
Twenty-nine gold medals radiated a captivating brilliance, eliciting gasps of awe from all the girls. Each medal was half the size of a palm, weighed one hundred grams, and was worth over fifty thousand apiece.
“Students, consider these gold medals as my gift to you for our first meeting. Everyone gets one…” he said as he took the first glass box from Manager Zou.
Through the lid, a pink diamond-studded necklace was visible. This necklace was even more elegant and noble than the one Ling Feng had displayed earlier. Ling Feng’s necklace had a single heart-shaped white diamond at the center. The necklace in his hands, however, featured a pure gold chain, several diamonds of various colors embedded along its length, and a sapphire in the center the size of a fingernail.
“Li Rong, today is your birthday. I’m giving this to you on behalf of Qiao Xinxin. I hope you’ll like it,” Lin Fan said, holding the box as he approached the evening’s guest of honor.
Both the gold medals and the necklace were given in Qiao Xinxin’s name. Only then would he receive cashback for his expenses.
“This gift is too valuable for me to accept,” Li Rong said, overwhelmed by the gesture and unsure of what to do, so she looked to Qiao Xinxin for guidance.
Qiao Xinxin was generous. “Class president, just take it. It’s Lin Fan’s heartfelt gesture. If you don’t accept it, he probably won’t be pleased.”
Lin Fan nodded and cast a gentle, affectionate glance at Qiao Xinxin. Having spent much time together, Qiao Xinxin understood his temperament well.
“Alright then! Thank you, Lin Fan. I’ll treat you to a meal someday,” Li Rong said, accepting the lavish gift without pretense.
To say she was unmoved would be a lie. This necklace was worth half a million; any woman would be utterly enthralled.
Meanwhile, Lin Fan saw Li Rong’s affection for him jump suddenly from zero to fifty.
“My god! Is this woman really so materialistic? Just a necklace and she’s already got a crush on me?” Lin Fan thought to himself.
The abrupt increase in affection meant she was a gold digger. Moreover, Li Rong’s hints were blatantly suggestive—she clearly wanted to attract his attention.
Unfortunately, Li Rong’s looks rated below nine out of ten; she wasn’t worth his devotion. According to the system’s rules, spending money on girls with less than nine points in attractiveness yielded no cashback for “dogged devotion.”
Lin Fan ignored her and took the second box from Manager Zou.
This one was rectangular—obviously a watch. Lin Fan took out the pink wristwatch, and in full view, gently grasped Qiao Xinxin’s left wrist and slipped a five-million-dollar Patek Philippe onto it.
“Xin, this is a special gift for you. If you ever need anything, just ask.”
“Mmm, I love it! Thank you,” Qiao Xinxin replied, barely able to contain her joy, wanting to give Lin Fan a kiss to show her affection. But, wary of gossip, she held back.
Lin Fan was even happier; spending more on Qiao Xinxin meant greater cashback rewards.
“Mr. Lin, the gold medals and necklaces total two million. Add the five-million watch, and your total is seven million. Since you’re a diamond member, you get a twenty percent discount…” Manager Zou began, but Lin Fan waved him off.
“No need for discounts. I’m not short on money. If you give me a discount, it’ll make me look bad.”
“Of course, of course! Mr. Lin, you’re so generous!” Manager Zou nodded and bowed, his face plastered with a smile, almost kneeling in gratitude. With such a magnanimous patron, he’d even call Lin Fan ‘father’ in public if it meant keeping him happy.
Lin Fan, not one to hesitate, pulled out his phone and transferred the money on the spot.
“Keep the receipt. If you need anything, just contact me. I’ll be at your beck and call,” Manager Zou said respectfully as he handed over the printed receipt, then left with the driver.
“Everyone, these gold medals are for you. Each of you gets one. And Teacher Ouyang and Miss Su, you have one as well,” Lin Fan announced, scanning the crowd, finally settling his gaze on Ling Feng.
“Sorry, I only prepared twenty-nine gold medals, so you’re not included. If you want one, call me ‘brother’ and I’ll have Manager Zou send another over,” Lin Fan said with a smirk.
Ling Feng’s face turned green with rage, his eyes blazing as he glared at Lin Fan, full of hatred.
He had planned to confess to Qiao Xinxin tonight, but Lin Fan had appeared out of nowhere, stealing the spotlight and making himself the center of attention. This evening, Lin Fan was the true protagonist.
Now, Lin Fan’s sarcastic remarks left him utterly humiliated.
“No need! I’m not like you, wasting money just to impress girls. Foolish behavior!” Ling Feng snorted angrily, venting his frustration before storming away.
“Idiot!” Lin Fan retorted, not backing down.
This guy tried to show off, failed, and was slapped in the face, yet still had the nerve to be sarcastic? Truly, he was deluded and out of his depth.
Sensing the awkward atmosphere, Yang Na, the lively one, stepped forward.
“Everyone, come and get your gold medals. Don’t let Lin Fan’s generosity go to waste!”
She was the first to pocket a gold medal. With a value of over fifty thousand, it could cover a year’s living expenses if exchanged for cash!
Lin Fan also saw Yang Na’s affection for him shoot up to fifty.
“Classic case of money opening eyes… Why are girls these days so realistic?” Lin Fan thought, feeling somewhat speechless.
After Yang Na led the way, the other girls followed suit, each taking a gold medal without hesitation.
There were twenty-seven students in the class, plus the head teacher Ouyang Qi and Su Juanmo, making twenty-nine in total.
The five boys sitting in the corner hesitated briefly, but finally succumbed to temptation and took a gold medal as well.
Lin Fan personally delivered the remaining two gold medals to Ouyang Qi and Su Juanmo.
But Su Juanmo refused. “I don’t like gold. Keep it for yourself!” She added, “Honestly, I don’t know what you’re thinking. You could have saved a bundle, but you refuse the discount just to show off? Shallow! Childish! Laughable!”
“I…” Lin Fan was left speechless.
How much did this woman dislike him?
He stared at Su Juanmo for a moment, but her affection remained unchanged—still zero.
“If you don’t want it, I’ll take it for you,” Ouyang Qi chimed in, unceremoniously taking both gold medals and putting them in her bag.
Then she handed Lin Fan a business card.
“This is mine. Let’s get acquainted…”
[Name: Ouyang Qi]
[Age: 27]
[Attractiveness: 8.5]
[Purity: 88]
[Affection (Intimacy): 25]
Seeing Ouyang Qi’s personal details, Lin Fan realized she was quite interested in him. Otherwise, she wouldn’t have offered her card so readily.
Yet Lin Fan knew full well that such a sudden spike in affection was either insincere or an attempt to hook him.
