Chapter 76: The Eight-Handed Luxury Car!
He was all too familiar with that tone. Besides, if Zeng Shuai was talking to close friends or family, he wouldn’t have sneaked off to make the call in secret—the very fact that he did so meant there was something suspicious going on. Lin Fan had no intention of waiting for him to finish his call and proceeded into the dealership with the two women.
As soon as they entered, a male salesperson came forward to greet them. Lin Fan immediately asked him to show them luxury cars suitable for women.
“Sir, we don’t have anything particularly small and delicate among our luxury cars, but there is one model that would suit these two ladies quite well…”
“The Bentley Continental! It’s one of our most popular models among female customers. Even those of a petite stature find it easy to handle. It’s understated and luxurious, with an interior that rivals a Rolls-Royce…”
While the salesperson was introducing the car, Zeng Shuai walked in as well.
Because this dealership was in the city center, the selection was limited, and Zhang Yichen didn’t have much insight into luxury cars. After looking at a few, she still preferred the Bentley Continental the salesperson recommended.
“Miss, you have excellent taste. We have several other colors in the garage. Do you have a preference?”
After considering for a moment, Zhang Yichen decided on pink. The one on display was white, but the pink one could be brought in from the garage.
“We’re here to place an order today, but I can pay the full amount upfront. What’s the total price?” Lin Fan asked straightforwardly.
“With insurance, taxes, and everything else, the total comes to four million,” the salesperson replied just as directly.
But before he’d finished speaking, Zeng Shuai couldn’t help but interject, “Only four million? I thought you were going to buy a Phantom!”
If he’d kept quiet, Lin Fan might have let it go, but with that comment, Lin Fan’s mood soured instantly.
Who was he to judge what car Lin Fan bought?
Instead of confronting him directly, Lin Fan turned to Wang Yingfei.
“Brother, I’m buying Yichen a Continental. Since you’re wealthier than me, shouldn’t you do the same for your girlfriend? She had her eye on a Porsche just now.”
He then winked at the salesman and asked, feigning curiosity, “That Porsche must cost about the same as the Continental, right?”
The salesman was no novice—he instantly understood the subtle rivalry between Lin Fan and Zeng Shuai. Seeing that Lin Fan was the dominant party, he played along.
“Mr. Lin, the Porsche is actually less expensive than the Continental, but we do have a silver Maybach GLS, which is about the same price and suits this lady’s temperament.”
“The Panamera is a bit small and doesn’t quite fit her style. Or perhaps a Maserati MC20? It’s a favorite among young celebrities and heirs, very popular with the younger generation. It’s valued similarly to the Continental and has an energetic vibe, perfect for her!”
The salesman lavished praise on Wang Yingfei, and Lin Fan quickly seized the opportunity.
“Brother, why not buy her a Maserati? That way, things would be fair between us. Otherwise, when she sees her friend driving a Continental, she might feel a little left out…”
Sure enough, with Lin Fan’s subtle prompting, Wang Yingfei began to entertain the idea of having Zeng Shuai buy her a luxury car.
“Honey, why don’t you get me one too? I just got my driver’s license…” she said sweetly, gazing at Zeng Shuai with hopeful eyes.
At this, Zeng Shuai’s face stiffened.
“Darling, that’s too expensive. We can’t afford it…” he said, shaking his head in distress—he had no intention of being taken for a fool.
A three-million-yuan car—he’d rather die! The Phantom outside was just a rental, three hundred thousand a month! He’d already spent three hundred thousand on a Chanel bag for Wang Yingfei, leaving his finances in ruins.
They’d only been together for less than three months, and today’s expenses exceeded everything he’d spent before!
Now Wang Yingfei wanted him to buy her a luxury car as well. She was clearly treating him like a cash cow.
Sensing the tension, the salesman chimed in, “You could consider a Porsche. They’re quite popular—many wealthy young couples love these dreamy models. Perfect for cruising, photoshoots, attending banquets—they’re stylish and eye-catching.”
“This lady is a professional model, isn’t she? Many models prefer cars like these, or high-end brands like Ferrari, Rolls-Royce, or Bentley…”
The more he spoke, the more tempted Wang Yingfei became. Even Lin Fan and Zhang Yichen felt an urge to test-drive a Ferrari or Bentley.
But Lin Fan had already experienced such cars and had no desire to buy more.
“Brother, why don’t you just pick any car? You can’t let your girlfriend feel embarrassed, can you? This amount is nothing to you—you could buy a thirteen-million-yuan Phantom, so how could a three-million-yuan luxury car be out of reach?”
Lin Fan chuckled, his tone laced with mockery.
Hearing this, Zeng Shuai clenched his teeth, determined not to show his embarrassment.
Inwardly, he cursed Lin Fan repeatedly. How did he run into this character today? He’d done nothing to provoke him, yet Lin Fan kept making things difficult!
“Honey, if you can’t afford the three-million one, a Porsche is fine. I’d be happy with anything! You don’t want me to lose face in front of Yichen, do you? She’s getting a car—if I end up with nothing, wouldn’t that be embarrassing?”
Wang Yingfei leaned in close, pouting and urging him on.
Zeng Shuai’s face darkened further.
In his mind, he cursed, “What car? I might as well get you an ambulance! Idiot, you should get your head checked at the hospital!”
He couldn’t even spare a hundred thousand, let alone a million! The thirty-thousand-yuan bag had already maxed out his credit card. He had just over twenty thousand left in his bank account—not enough even for one month’s car rental.
He’d planned to cash in his credit limit in the next few days, but today it was all gone in a flash!
Lin Fan could see his anxiety and regret and couldn’t help but laugh coldly to himself. Trying to act rich in front of me—who gave you the courage? Since you look down on me, I’ll make sure you’re exposed for what you are!
If Zeng Shuai hadn’t mocked him from the start, Lin Fan wouldn’t have bothered with him. But since he insisted on belittling him, Lin Fan would let him reap what he’d sown.
“Excuse me, do you know anyone at another dealership? I’d like to buy a Rolls-Royce Phantom for myself. That one outside—is it really worth thirteen million?”
Suddenly, Lin Fan pointed to the Phantom parked outside and asked loudly.
The salesman stared at the car for half a minute before shaking his head in confusion. “That’s an old model from years ago. It’s nowhere near thirteen million now! And it’s clearly been through several owners—a used car, at least the eighth owner, by my estimation.”
“Nonsense! Don’t talk rubbish!”
