Qiang Zhao glanced back and saw Feiyang Zhang glaring fixedly at him.
With no other choice, Qiang Zhao got into the car.
Now that Feiyang Zhang had his eyes on him, getting into the car was the only way to keep him from following.
In the distance, Feiyang Zhang watched Qiang Zhao climb aboard, furious beyond measure.
“Brother Zhang, should we follow them?”
“Follow them my ass! What if they notice us? Are you trying to get me killed?”
Feiyang Zhang slapped the underling across the face. He knew all too well what Mengyao Chu was capable of.
If they went after her again, she might really come back and deal with them all over again.
Inside the car, Biao Hu sat in the front passenger seat.
The moment Qiang Zhao got in, he saw Mengyao Chu stretching out her long legs in an alluring pose.
Taking the hint, he sat in the back. In any case, he would be getting out soon.
The vehicle was spacious, with three rows of seats, and furnished with extravagant luxury.
It had not only high-tech video equipment, but also red wine and snacks.
The life of the rich was beyond his imagination. They really did live in unbelievable luxury.
Qiang Zhao knew something about cars. This one had to cost at least five million to begin with.
Perhaps, in the eyes of these powerful families, that amount was nothing.
But even if he worked for the rest of his life, he could never earn that much.
Fortunately, he had been reborn. With the memories in his head, he could easily build a small business of his own.
“President, may we set off?” asked Zhou, the driver.
“Go ahead,” Mengyao Chu replied indifferently.
At the word “president,” Qiang Zhao could not help being startled.
He took another look at Mengyao Chu, whose face was hidden behind a mask. She was so young, yet already the president of a corporation.
A female president—and an imperious one at that.
“Qiang Zhao, let me introduce you. This is my elder sister, Mengyao Chu, president of the Chu Corporation. You’ve heard of the Chu Corporation, haven’t you?”
Qiang Zhao was familiar with the female president of the Chu Corporation.
When he had worked at the Zhao Corporation, he had often heard people talk about Mengyao Chu, the Chu Corporation’s female president and an elite of the business world.
Ever since she had taken over the Chu Corporation, its market value had multiplied several times over.
“That’s right. I’m the second young lady of the Chu family. What do you think? Surprised?”
Siyu Chu had begun treating Qiang Zhao as a friend after he helped her.
Since she already knew his circumstances, she introduced herself without hesitation.
“I know the Chu Corporation. I work at the Zhao Corporation, and my department often deals with departments at the Chu Corporation.”
Qiang Zhao answered honestly. He was not surprised; he had already guessed most of it.
He also knew how both the Zhao Corporation and the Chu Corporation would develop over the next ten years. This second chance at life would undoubtedly allow him to show what he was capable of.
“You’re an employee of the Zhao Corporation?”
Siyu Chu opened her mouth wide, too astonished to speak for a moment.
“Yes. Is something wrong?”
Qiang Zhao did not understand. Her reaction was rather strange.
“Do you know who you offended just now? Feiyang Zhang, the Zhao family’s third young master. If he finds out that you work at the Zhao Corporation, he’ll definitely come looking for trouble.”
Siyu Chu spoke nervously. She should never have let Qiang Zhao barge in earlier.

Qiang Zhao cursed inwardly. Was his luck really this bad?
Still, he was not afraid. Feiyang Zhang probably did not know him, so he should not be able to track him down.
“Why don’t you come work for the Chu Corporation? My sister is the president. With a single word from her, you could join the company.”
The moment Siyu Chu finished speaking, Mengyao Chu responded.
“My Chu Corporation does not take in employees from the Zhao Corporation.”
She reclined in an elegant posture with her eyes closed, her voice icy.
Her voluptuous figure was displayed to perfection, like a scene from a painting.
“Big Sister, he helped me today.”
Siyu Chu briefly recounted what had happened.
“It was nothing. I just happened to be there,” Qiang Zhao replied politely.
“In any case, thank you for what you did today. If Feiyang Zhang troubles you again, call Siyu.”
Mengyao Chu’s voice remained cold. “But if you want to join the Chu Corporation, you cannot enter through the back door.”
Her attitude was as forceful as ever, leaving no room for negotiation.
“Big Sister, you don’t know this, but Qiang Zhao’s wife is Ruyan Liu.”
“You know Ruyan Liu, don’t you? She was the campus beauty who was as famous as you back at university.”
Siyu Chu spoke cheerfully, her face full of gossip.
“Ruyan Liu?”
At the mention of that name, an unusual expression appeared on Mengyao Chu’s face.
“So it’s her. Since she was your classmate, I understand—but even so, I can’t make an exception.”
Mengyao Chu crossed her legs, still wearing that cold, emotionless expression.
Principles were principles. No one could change them.
Damn, was Ruyan Liu really that famous?
Qiang Zhao searched his memories for the girl who had once been as famous as Ruyan Liu.
Mengyao Chu—the campus beauty who had gone abroad to study during her sophomore year and never returned.
He suddenly remembered her. The name had indeed existed in his memories. Back then, Imperial Capital University had had two campus beauties.
After Mengyao Chu went abroad, Ruyan Liu became the university’s sole campus beauty.
So it was her. No wonder the name had seemed familiar.
“Hello. What is it?”
A call came through on Mengyao Chu’s phone. The voice on the other end was a deep, resonant male voice.
“Mengyao, I’m calling to apologize for my younger brother.”
“He offended you by accident. I’ve already disciplined him.”
“Zihao Zhang, keep a closer eye on your brother. I don’t want this to happen again.”
Mengyao Chu’s face was icy. She clearly had no intention of speaking with Zihao Zhang for another moment.
Zihao Zhang was the eldest son of the Zhang family and, at present, the president of the Zhang Corporation.
He was also the man engaged to Mengyao Chu. Their engagement was purely a marriage alliance between the two families.
“Don’t worry. There won’t be a next time.”
Zihao Zhang made the promise solemnly. To gain Mengyao Chu and the support of the family behind her, the slight his younger brother had suffered was completely insignificant.
The internal struggle within the Zhang Corporation was fierce. His second uncle and his younger brother had joined forces.
They were determined to seize the position of family head. Only by forming an alliance through marriage with the Chu family could Zihao Zhang preserve his own standing.
“Our engagement banquet is in three days. When will you have time for us to take a photograph together?”
“I’m very busy. I don’t have that much time.”
“Just have someone edit my photograph into one of yours. We can put on a show for everyone when the time comes.”
Mengyao Chu had no desire to entertain him. Their relationship was nothing more than a performance for appearances.

There was not the slightest trace of affection between them. Their engagement had been arranged by the previous generation.
Mengyao Chu had no way to refuse it. The only thing she could do was keep her distance from Zihao Zhang.
“Also, I’ll be bringing my daughter to the engagement banquet. You have no objection, do you?”
After Mengyao Chu asked the question, silence fell over the other end of the line.
Qiang Zhao froze. She was bringing her daughter to her own engagement banquet? What kind of situation was this?
His mind went blank. Could it be that Mengyao Chu had already been married?
He had thought his own life was miserable enough, but who would have guessed that Mengyao Chu’s fiancé was in the same predicament?
“Don’t jump to conclusions. It isn’t what you think.”
Siyu Chu had known that Qiang Zhao would be utterly bewildered. He was not the first person to draw the wrong conclusion.
She knew that her elder sister had become pregnant after a one-night stand during her sophomore year.
Her sister had wanted to use the child to force the Zhao family to call off the engagement, so she had used studying abroad as an excuse to give birth overseas.
That was her sister’s private affair, and she could not reveal it to an unrelated outsider.
Qiang Zhao was precisely such an outsider. Telling him would serve no purpose.
“I have no objection. I’m rather fond of little girls.”
“Don’t worry. Although Peach isn’t my daughter, I’ll treat her as my own from now on!”
Zihao Zhang’s voice seemed to tremble as he spoke.
It was obvious that he did not merely mind. He minded very much indeed.
When the Zhao family had learned that Mengyao Chu had a daughter, they had been completely dumbfounded.
She had given birth after going abroad during her sophomore year, hoping to use the child to break free from her family’s control.
She had assumed that once the Zhao family learned she had given birth, they would surely call off the engagement.
Yet what happened next was entirely beyond her expectations. After learning the truth, the Zhao family had not chosen to dissolve the engagement.
Instead, they had agreed to continue with it, because Mengyao Chu’s daughter had no father.
In truth, Mengyao Chu herself did not know who the child’s father was.
Naturally, people would point fingers when she brought her child into the engagement.
But Zihao Zhang was not afraid. He had to form the alliance; only through marriage could he hold on to his position as head of the family.
If the engagement were called off now, he would become the laughingstock of every prominent family in Imperial City.
By accepting the marriage alliance, he might endure some gossip in the short term, but even more people would praise his generosity and tolerance.
After weighing everything carefully, Zihao Zhang still chose to proceed with the alliance.
So what if she had a daughter? Once he married her, they could simply have another child.
It was not a son, after all, and she would not inherit the family fortune in the future. Thinking of it that way, Zihao Zhang found the matter even easier to accept.
“Mengyao, remember to dress little Peach nicely.”
“I’ll come pick up the two of you when the time comes.”
Zihao Zhang added those words to make his attitude clear.
“I have something to attend to. I’m hanging up.”
Mengyao Chu said nothing more. She had mentioned little Peach to Zihao Zhang several times precisely because she wanted to force him to call off the engagement.
“What a stubborn pest. How am I supposed to get rid of you?”
Zihao Zhang refused to take the bait. He continued cheerfully accepting little Peach.
Although his acceptance was only superficial, it still counted as acceptance, leaving Mengyao Chu unable to find any excuse to reject him.
“I’ve already had a child. Why won’t he let me go?”
“Does he really intend to force me to bring another man to the engagement banquet?”
