Chapter 20: Brother-in-law, I Was Wrong—It Was I Who Was Too Arrogant Just Now

Zhao Qiang had already placed his phone behind his back and dialed 110. He deliberately spoke loudly when mentioning Guangming Residential Complex, hoping the police on the other end could hear clearly. He could fight, but taking on so many thugs armed with weapons all at once was beyond him. He needed to buy time and wait for the police to arrive.
“Zhao Qiang, who the hell do you think is your brother-in-law?” Liu Tianming was furious. Zhao Qiang was acting so convincingly, as if nothing had happened, even after beating him up.
“What’s wrong? Brother-in-law, did I offend you?” Zhao Qiang asked casually.
“If brother-in-law offended you, then brother-in-law apologizes.”
“It’s late at night, and you brought so many friends here without telling me.”
“Brother-in-law invites you and your friends to dinner, my treat, so everyone can get acquainted.”
Zhao Qiang smiled cheerfully, trying to keep the situation calm.
“Damn it, Zhao Qiang, don’t give me this fake act.”
“Guys, handle him well,” Liu Tianming ordered without hesitation and called on a few blond-haired thugs to attack.
“Don’t kill him, just knock him down!” They weren’t giving him a chance to stall any longer. Zhao Qiang immediately turned and ran. He wasn’t a fool to just stand there and get beaten.
Seven or eight people surrounded him tightly from all sides, nowhere to escape. They were outside the residential complex, too far from anyone else. It seemed unavoidable today, but Zhao Qiang wasn’t afraid—he had once faced death before.
“Run! Why aren’t you running now?”
“You were so arrogant today, even dared to hit my mom!”
Liu Tianming was struggling to keep up behind, but when he saw Zhao Qiang surrounded, he laughed.
“Liu Tianming, looks like I have no choice today,” Zhao Qiang tightened his fists and stared at them firmly.
“Get him, make him smoke!” Liu Tianming ordered, and his gang started moving on Zhao Qiang.
Just then, one of the blond thugs behind was slapped to the ground.
“Who? Dare to touch my brother!” The young thug angrily turned his head.
A burly man with a rough face stood there.
“A bunch of kids causing trouble here?”
Zhao Qiang immediately recognized the man—Hu Biao, Chu Mengyao’s bodyguard.
Why was he here? Could Chu Mengyao have come as well?
“Who are you? Mind your own business!” Liu Tianming stiffened and shouted.
“Hmph, I hate bullies like you little thugs the most!”
“If you have hands and feet, why not find a real job?”
“Even a former convict like me has a job, why are you all loafing around?”
Hu Biao said as he cracked his knuckles.
Before long, he had knocked all of them to the ground with a few swift moves.

A chorus of screams and wails followed.
The blond thugs were stunned; hitting the big man with sticks had no effect. Instead, they were taken down with just a slap each.
“I haven’t even used my full strength, and you’re all down already—what a bunch of useless trash.”
Teaching these troublemakers a lesson was effortless for Hu Biao; he barely exerted himself.
“Kid, make your move!” Hu Biao glanced at Liu Tianming, who was terrified and sweating profusely.
Make a move? What move? He was the only one still standing while the rest lay defeated. He had no words for his predicament—how could he be an opponent?
Charging forward would probably have him split in two on the spot, maybe even lose his life.
Who exactly was this guy? So fierce. Even if a few more people joined, they wouldn’t stand a chance.
Could he be a friend of Zhao Qiang’s, someone he’d never met?
“Brother Hu Biao, thank you!” Zhao Qiang said.
“We’re on the same side; it’s nothing,” Hu Biao replied, waving his hand. He liked Xiao Tao and knew Zhao Qiang was her father.
Earlier, Hu Biao had considered finding and beating up Xiao Tao’s dad but gave up after overhearing Zhao Qiang’s conversation with the CEO. After all, Zhao Qiang was innocent.
He couldn’t fight back and was forced into a terrible situation—any man would feel humiliated.
Same side? Liu Tianming immediately backed down.
“Big brother, I was wrong, please don’t hit me. I’m injured.”
“Don’t tell me you just came to beat people up!” Hu Biao folded his arms, uninterested.
“Zhao Qiang, brother-in-law, I was wrong. Please spare me!” Liu Tianming had lost his earlier arrogance and was scared out of his wits.
“You didn’t spare me just now, did you?” Zhao Qiang snorted coldly. Liu Tianming was a coward who bullied the weak but feared the strong, lacking any backbone.
“Brother-in-law, I truly realize my mistake. I won’t dare again. I was just temporarily blinded by stupidity.”
Liu Tianming sobbed and begged.
“Hmph, temporarily blinded? You brought so many people with sticks to find me—that’s temporarily blinded?”
Zhao Qiang found it ridiculous how easily he spoke nonsense.
“Brother-in-law, I promise this is the last time. Just please let me go, and I won’t bother you anymore.”
Liu Tianming swore quickly. If it weren’t for that big man, he’d be begging Zhao Qiang now. Such terrible luck.
“Zhao Qiang, don’t waste time with this kid. Let me teach him another lesson!”
“Better yet, break his limbs to make him behave.”
Hu Biao rolled up his sleeves, ready to strike again.
“No, no, big brother, I really won’t dare again. Brother-in-law, please plead for me!”
Liu Tianming gasped and nearly collapsed from fright.

“Liu Tianming, I’m willing to let you go, but you have to do two things.”
Zhao Qiang suddenly had an idea. He checked the time—the police would arrive any moment now.
Besides, this guy was like a stubborn sticker. He had to hold some leverage to keep him from acting recklessly again.
“Brother-in-law, whatever you say. Not just two things, even dozens—I’ll agree.”
Liu Tianming clung to this lifeline and agreed at once.
“First, take off your shirt and pants. Second, kneel down and sing ‘Conqueror.’”
Zhao Qiang stared at Liu Tianming, a smirk playing on his lips.
“Huh?”
“Brother Hu Biao, break his limbs!”
Before Zhao Qiang finished, Liu Tianming nodded quickly.
“I’ll do it, I’ll do it!”
Life was more important than pride; a wise man doesn’t suffer needless losses.
He bit his lip and shamefully stripped off his clothes, leaving only his underwear.
Under Hu Biao’s coercion, Liu Tianming began singing “Conqueror” while Zhao Qiang took out his phone and recorded the whole thing.
Soon, a siren sounded, and a police car pulled up by the roadside.
Several officers glanced over and began arresting the fallen thugs.
These were seasoned troublemakers in the area, with multiple arrests on their records.
The police recognized them immediately and loaded them into the car skillfully, as if rehearsed.
“Officer, I want to report someone attacked me!” Liu Tianming quickly changed his expression and went to report.
Then his face changed again when he saw Officer Gao Lan, the female cop he had met earlier at the hospital.
“Who hit you?”
“It was him… but where is he?”
Liu Tianming meant to point at Hu Biao but saw he was nowhere in sight.
“Officer, I was the one who called.”
“He came with several thugs to beat me up. You heard the call earlier.”
Zhao Qiang greeted Gao Lan in front of Liu Tianming. What a coincidence.
Liu Tianming was speechless—Zhao Qiang was still here, clearly not scared of him!
“So, who exactly hit you?”
“A big man, tall and strong!” Liu Tianming said anxiously, full of grievance.
“Where is he?” Gao Lan frowned and looked around.
“No idea. They ran as soon as you arrived. Zhao Qiang knows them.”
Zhao Qiang shook his head quickly. “I don’t know, never seen them before. Weren’t you here to cause trouble for me?”
Gao Lan stared coldly at Liu Tianming and asked again.
“Who exactly hit you?”
“Officer, it was him. He beat up several of us!”
Since the man had fled, Liu Tianming threw all the blame onto Zhao Qiang, striking first.
“Did he really gang up on all of you by himself?” Gao Lan asked.
