Chapter One: I Wish I Could Witness Your Death with My Own Eyes
Because of a violent incident at the hospital, Gu Sihui died at the young age of twenty-five.
After her death, her soul was taken away by a strange, glowing orb.
The orb told her that because she had always done good deeds and accumulated virtue in her previous life, she would be rewarded with a chance to be reborn in another world.
Who would want to die when they could live again? Not to mention, this was a blessing earned by her own virtue.
Gu Sihui agreed without hesitation.
After a flash of white light, Gu Sihui’s vision cleared—and she found herself face-to-face with a massive, long-haired beast that blotted out the sky.
Her breath caught as the beast’s foul-smelling saliva nearly suffocated her.
The beast seemed oblivious to Gu Sihui’s resistance. Its tongue, covered in dark purple-red fur, swept across her face in one long lick.
With her face now smeared in the beast’s rank drool, Gu Sihui’s mind exploded in chaos—Damn you, system, show yourself now! If this is your idea of a blessing, you can keep it!
She would have much preferred to die with dignity on the hospital floor than to be dragged out like this.
At least her previous death had been decent—she hadn’t been reduced to this pathetic state.
“Gu Sihui, if you want to die, don’t drag us down with you!”
A fiery red figure leapt out from behind the gigantic beast, its sharp claws slicing through the air and severing the monster’s head in a single blow.
Boiling blood splattered over Gu Sihui, burning her delicate skin bright red.
A young man strode through the rain of blood, wrapped his arm around Gu Sihui’s slender waist, and, stepping over the beast’s collapsing body, carried her to safety.
“If you want to die, I won’t stop you, but you must divorce the four of us first!”
A flood of unfamiliar memories surged into Gu Sihui’s mind, and her face paled bit by bit.
This wasn’t a normal transmigration—it was a book transmigration.
Under the stress at the hospital, her best friend had recommended a novel called “Five Husbands’ Wicked Devotion: The Little Female Is Spoiled Silly,” a beast-world reverse harem story.
Her friend had even joked that the villainess in the book had the exact same name as her, and warned her to memorize the whole novel, just in case she transmigrated.
Gu Sihui had rolled her eyes—yeah, right, as if her friend’s words were magic!
Apparently, they were, and more effective than any blessing at Golden Rooster Temple!
In that post-apocalyptic alternate world, the ratio of females to males was one to nine. Females had become the most precious resource.
To ensure the safety of every female, each one was matched with at least three beast husbands at birth.
Before the heroine and the villainess were born, the Birth Tower had yielded only males, not a single female, for eight consecutive years.
From the moment these two girls arrived, they became the center of attention and received the adoration of the entire Beast God Continent.
At first, both received equal treatment, each surrounded by five beast husbands. But as they grew, their personalities became polar opposites.
The heroine was kind and adorable, warming everyone around her like a little sun.
The villainess was gloomy and malicious, like a mushroom festering in a damp, dark corner—everyone loathed her.
According to the laws of the Beast God Continent, once a female bonded with a male, unless the female initiated a separation, the male’s entire being—including his life—belonged to her.
The villainess had a dog, a rabbit, a fox, a snake, and a black tortoise as her husbands. Of them all, the most favored was the powerful and beautiful fox.
But the fox had always loved the sun-like heroine.
However, the heroine already had five formidable beast husbands—a wolf, a flood dragon, a lion, a blue luan, and a merman—so she had no interest in a mere three-tailed white fox.
One day, by some twist of fate, the heroine’s merman husband betrayed her and managed to break free from her.
The heroine was gravely wounded as a result, and the white fox sacrificed one of his tails for a chance to stay by her side.
Desperate to be rid of the villainess, he tricked her into dissolving their bond, even at the cost of self-destruction.
After losing the fox, the villainess grew even more resentful toward the heroine, and vented her anger on her remaining four husbands—beating and berating them, forcing them to do things they hated, subjecting them to constant humiliation.
The four beast husbands had nearly exhausted their patience, but the binding contract forced them to endure.
This latest crisis erupted because the villainess, in order to heal the fox, sold the black tortoise to the devourers.
To prevent the other three beast husbands from rescuing him, the villainess deliberately left at night and threw herself into a den of beasts, hoping to die.
Her own death was nothing—but if she died, all her bonded beast husbands would die too.
Shao Feichen set Gu Sihui down with a grim face, gripping her throat. “Speak. Where is Gong Zhengqing?!”
Gong Zhengqing was the black tortoise husband.
Gu Sihui, her throat constricted, was at a loss for words.
She did know where the black tortoise was, but if she revealed it now, she had a feeling Shao Feichen would drag her down with him.
She thought for a moment and decided to stick to the villainess’s persona for now—she’d figure the rest out later.
“Go ahead and strangle me. If you kill me, you’ll never learn where Gong Zhengqing is!”
Gu Sihui’s voice sounded tough, but her legs were trembling.
Fortunately, her gamble paid off.
Shao Feichen’s expression shifted repeatedly before he finally, reluctantly, let go.
His hand released her, but his words were as venomous as poison.
“I don’t understand how two people born on the same day can be so different.”
The villainess could never stand being compared to the heroine.
Shao Feichen’s words were a blade to the heart.
He sneered, “You think betraying Gong Zhengqing will make Xi Mo change his mind about you?”
“Dream on! In Xi Mo’s eyes, you aren’t even worth a single strand of Bai Nanyan’s hair.”
If it were the original villainess, she would have screamed hysterically and rushed to attack Shao Feichen.
But it was Gu Sihui standing here now. She replied coldly, “Oh.”
Shao Feichen, expecting a dramatic reaction, was caught off guard. His arms slackened, his shoulders dropped, and he staggered to the side.
“Oh? That’s it? Just an ‘oh’?” Shao Feichen stared at her in disbelief.
“What else?” Gu Sihui replied impatiently, her mind racing as she tried to recall the villainess’s fate in the novel.
The book had been long and tedious, so she hadn’t read it carefully.
If she’d known she’d end up here, she would have studied it as carefully as for a college entrance exam, analyzing every word.
She couldn’t remember much, but as the villainess set up as a foil to the beloved heroine, her fate was surely miserable.
The damn system had set her up.
Gu Sihui was deeply troubled, but life had to go on.
With her physical strength, she wouldn’t survive alone.
But the beast husbands had all been abused by the villainess and hated her to the core—if she didn’t leave them, she wouldn’t survive either.
There was only one solution… she’d have to bide her time and look for a way out.
Gu Sihui quickly made her battle plan and asked Shao Feichen, “Why are you the only one here? Where are my other husbands?”
At this, Shao Feichen snapped.
“If I hadn’t drawn the short straw to come check on you, do you think I’d be here?” His eyes reddened with anger as he spat out each word: “You have no idea how happy I was to see you about to be eaten by a beast. If the Birth Tower hadn’t etched the protection of females into our genes, I would’ve loved to witness your death in person.”
