Chapter Seven: Missing a Husband (Please bookmark and follow~)
How to make two men scowl at you with just one sentence?
Gu Sihui managed it.
“Bang!”
The loud slam of the door startled her. She numbly glanced toward the closed door—there was no sign of Gong Zhengqing anymore.
“Is the little turtle jealous?” Gu Sihui muttered in belated realization.
Shao Feichen was also momentarily shocked but quickly composed himself. He rolled over, pushing Gu Sihui aside, stood up to straighten his clothes with disdain, and sneered, “Don’t let your ugly face fool you; your thoughts are quite grand.”
What?
He actually called her ugly?
Gu Sihui couldn’t tolerate it for a moment.
Just yesterday, while washing up in the bathroom, she had been stunned by the heroine’s face.
Skin as smooth as cream, radiant like a spring peach.
Those adjectives seemed tailor-made for the heroine.
Her perfectly oval face, if one bit more plump, would look chubby; if a bit less, would seem cold. Her skin was as delicate as fine jade, flawless without a single pore or line. Her large, round apricot eyes brimmed with innocence.
The natural orange tint at the corners of her eyes made her look charming and alluring. Her nose was high and elegant, the tip rounded and harmless.
Full, delicate lips resembled cherries, like luscious peach-shaped pout lips. Even as a woman, Gu Sihui wanted to bite them, unable to imagine how soft and fragrant they would be if kissed.
Gu Sihui fumed, “You may insult my character, but you cannot insult my looks.”
Shao Feichen blinked, “Huh?”
“Huh? What ‘huh’?” Gu Sihui scrambled off the bed with all four limbs, lifted her face to his, pinched one cheek and stretched it outward, then scrunched her nose upward. “This face, this nose, these sparkling big eyes—they’re all original!
Not good-looking? You dare say that?”
She looked at him with mock sympathy, clicking her tongue. “When did you go blind? Why didn’t you tell me? I’ll buy a couple of firecrackers to celebrate.”
“Gu Sihui!” Shao Feichen bristled, “You’re even more annoying than before! Do you want a divorce from me?”
“Shao Feichen!” Gu Sihui’s voice was even louder. Hands on her hips, she looked up at him with wide eyes. “With your attitude, you want a divorce? Ha! Forget it. Even if I divorce the little turtle, I’ll never divorce you!”
“You!” Shao Feichen glared at her.
Gu Sihui moved closer, puffed out her chest: “What’s wrong with me?”
Shao Feichen suddenly felt utterly childish, stepped back, and regained his composure.
“Boring.”
With that, he turned and left, afraid that moving any slower would reveal his slowly heating ears.
During the meal, Gu Sihui finally met all of her beastly husbands.
The red-clad, white-haired one with a fiery, proud temperament and a white phosphorus aura—he ignited without a spark and was the one who always said, “I want a divorce,” was Shao Feichen, the White Shiba beast husband. His offensive ability was the secret skill “Scattered Soul Flying Claws.”
The dark-clad, purple-haired one with a temperament that shifted between cold and warm, sometimes quiet, sometimes sharp-tongued, and whose looks were relatively plain among the four was Gong Zhengqing, the Black Tortoise beast husband. His abilities leaned toward gentle healing and purification; he was the only one among the four with dual group skills. His secret skills were “Black Tortoise Holy Light,” a combined healing and defense, and “Light Spirit Void,” which provided immunity and purification.
The smallest one, wearing blue, with a head full of wild curls and bright red eyes, was Ying Nian, the mutant rabbit beast husband. He had no special secret skills yet, and his ability inclined toward control.
Gu Sihui finally understood why Gong Zhengqing had seemed so strange.
At breakfast, Shao Feichen saw Gong Zhengqing picking up a bright red chili and immediately grabbed his hand. “Aqing, are you crazy? You can’t eat that.”
Then, belatedly, he looked into Gong Zhengqing’s eyes.
Meeting those sinister eyes, Shao Feichen’s brow furrowed ever so slightly. “Gong Zhengci? Why is it you?”
Gong Zhengci?
The name sparked a memory in Gu Sihui’s mind about the heroine.
The divine Black Tortoise spirit was not just a tortoise but a deity entwined with a snake.
Thus, the Black Tortoise beast husband had two souls within one body. Each spirit bore a different name. The gentle and kind one was Gong Zhengqing, the Black Tortoise; the more mischievous and sinister one was the snake soul, Gong Zhengci.
Gu Sihui recalled that if she couldn’t find a way to help the two souls merge before Gong Zhengqing turned twenty-five, his body would self-destruct under the immense spiritual pressure.
Now Gong Zhengqing was already twenty-three, meaning if she didn’t find a solution within two years, she would have to watch him die helplessly.
Hearts are made of flesh, and Gu Sihui, having grown up in a family of medical professionals, had been taught the noble mission of healing and saving lives.
She could not just stand by and watch a patient die.
Moreover, since she had taken over the original body, saving Gong Zhengqing was a way to atone for the original owner’s sins.
And saving Gong Zhengqing was also a form of self-preservation.
Judging by Gong Zhengci’s demeanor, he clearly harbored feelings for Bai Nanyan and resented Gu Sihui, who had sold him out and abused him.
Gu Sihui sighed, mechanically wielding her fork and knife as she stuffed a piece of steak into her mouth.
Suddenly, her eyes lit up with renewed hope for life, eagerly devouring the beef—so delicious!
After finishing the meal, Gu Sihui clutched her full stomach and sank into the soft sofa, exuding an indescribable sense of leisure and laziness.
Her mind went blank when suddenly a large shadow fell over her head.
Startled, Gu Sihui snapped back to reality and came face to face with a man with black hair and dark eyes, resembling a mushroom on a rainy day. She gasped, “Who... who are you?”
The man’s voice was cold but surprisingly pleasant.
Like an icicle frozen on a winter beam—cold, yet clear and pure.
“Are you really going to take the Level Five Pharmacist exam?”
Teng Qu’s flat voice finally linked him to a certain identity in Gu Sihui’s memory.
No wonder she had felt something was off earlier, as if something was missing.
It turned out she was missing a husband!
However, this situation wasn’t Teng Qu’s fault. The heroine disliked this husband, who was actually a python in essence, gloomy in appearance with jet-black hair and eyes.
Time and again, he was ordered never to appear before her voluntarily, never to eat at the same table, and wherever she was, he was to stay away—otherwise, he faced severe punishments.
Including but not limited to having his scales pulled out, kneeling by a burning brazier for four or five hours in the scorching heat, or kneeling in deep snow all night in winter.
Recalling the heroine’s reckless behavior, Gu Sihui became alert.
With the other beast husbands sent off to clean and work, the spacious living room was empty except for her. Could this man have sneaked in to secretly attack her?
Gu Sihui curled deeper into the sofa and whispered, “Domestic violence is illegal, you know!”
