Chapter 125: They Really Dared to Lure the Tiger Away from the Mountain
Yang Changfeng woke up in a daze, hearing footsteps outside the door. He quickly opened his eyes and realized he was at Chen Aijia’s home.
It was not the sweltering training ground, nor the treacherous deserts of the Middle East, nor the bloody, chaotic jungles of South America. It was certainly not the office.
His eyes ached, especially his "perspective eye," which had not felt this strained in a long time. Rubbing his eyes, he stood up just as the door was pushed open.
Chen Aijia was wearing a grey skirt suit, her flawless legs naturally exposed, her feet in slippers—no stockings, and certainly no heels. An Ya was dressed in formal trousers and a black tailored blazer, looking both dainty and charming. As she pushed the door open and saw Yang Changfeng, she turned back to Chen Aijia with a cheerful smile. "See? I told you he’d be back."
So, both beauties were already dressed and ready to head out. Checking the time, it was already 6:45 AM. It seemed they had taken his words to heart; since he said they would be leaving early, they hadn't delayed.
Yang Changfeng asked curiously, "You little girl, how did you know I would definitely be back?"
An Ya pouted, disgruntled, "Because you don’t trust me, obviously. What other reason could there be?"
Yang Changfeng gave a bitter smile. "It’s not that I don’t trust you. The enemy this time is complex. I can barely gauge what kind of people they are. All I can guarantee is that they are formidable, and in order to destroy the evidence of their crimes, they will certainly stop at nothing to eliminate the source of the threat."
An Ya pouted again, stomping off to change her shoes; they still had to pick up breakfast on the way.
Chen Aijia walked over and studied Yang Changfeng’s expression, asking with concern, "No matter how busy you are, you shouldn't push yourself this hard. Delegate more to others. You need to rest properly over the next few days; you look terrible."
Yang Changfeng chuckled, "Are you worried about me?"
Chen Aijia rolled her eyes at him, purring, "What else can I do? You’re the company’s biggest asset. If I don't take care of you, no one in the company will dare to do any work."
Caught off guard, Yang Changfeng gave her slender back a quick touch before sprinting into the bathroom to wash his face, laughing, "Oh, come on, we’re close, don't be so formal."
Surprisingly, Chen Aijia didn't get angry. Instead, she flashed a fox-like smile and muttered to herself, "You think you’re taking advantage of me? Just wait. Let’s see who’s crying by this afternoon. Hmph, I’ll be the one laughing. Just you wait, you brat!"
Downstairs, An Ya whispered to Chen Aijia, "Why were his eyes red?"
The tears were long gone, but the eyes of someone who had been crying would always show it.
Chen Aijia scrutinized An Ya, making her feel so uncomfortable that she scurried behind the sofa, guarding herself. "What devious plan are you cooking up now?"
"Nothing, just admiring a beauty." Chen Aijia smiled sweetly. The more she said that, the more brazenly she stared, making An Ya at a loss for how to react.
Something was wrong. Definitely wrong. She knew Chen Aijia well; she wouldn't look at someone like that for no reason, and it certainly wasn't going to be anything good.
"Don't worry, it's a huge cause for celebration!" Chen Aijia’s smile was profoundly cryptic.
At 7:00 AM sharp, the three reached the garage. An Ya moved to head for the back seat, but Yang Changfeng waved her off. "You two sit in the front; I need to lie down in the back."
"Why?"
Yang Changfeng glared at the two bewildered beauties. "I went through all the trouble of sneaking back unnoticed just to catch them off guard. Go on, sit in the front. I’ll lie in the back, and if anything happens, just let me know."
So that was the plan. That was fine. Chen Aijia wasn't picky about where she sat; she could review documents in the passenger seat just as easily.
Yang Changfeng didn't see the Audi. "Where’s the Audi?"
Chen Aijia replied with annoyance, "You’re asking me? You took it out to chase girls and dented the door, so it’s at the 4S shop for repairs. If you need to drive these next few days, just take one of the company cars. Those Cadillacs are just sitting there; take whichever you want."
"I’m not driving those," Yang Changfeng said. "I don't want to get their stench of theft on me."
Chen Aijia agreed. "That works. The more I look at those cars, the more nauseated I get. Let’s just sell them."
"Are you stupid? Selling them now would be a massive loss," Yang Changfeng argued. "Whoever bought them should pay for them—every cent."
Chen Aijia giggled, "I’m not that slow. Those cars are confiscated assets. Every penny they spent on those cars must be returned to the finance department in full. Whatever we get for selling them is just interest."
Yang Changfeng shuddered. If anyone ever called Chen Aijia harmless again, he would slap them. This beauty was truly cunning!
As the car pulled out and crossed the bridge, An Ya noted, "There’s a red car next to us."
Yang Changfeng scrambled up to look out the window. Under a tree at the intersection on the right sat a red Passat, with no one visible inside.
Chen Aijia smiled, "Probably just parked there. A Passat isn't a low-end car; they’d probably be too stingy to use it for surveillance."
*Forget that last thought!*
Yang Changfeng reached out and tapped Chen Aijia’s leg. She shivered and glared back, looking incredibly alluring as she hissed, "What do you think you’re doing? An Ya is right here; don't corrupt her."
*Good grief, is that criticism or encouragement?*
Yang Changfeng blinked and tapped her again. *So beautiful. Even more beautiful without stockings!*
An Ya turned beet red and barked, "If you two dare to try anything in this car, I’m driving straight into the Jiangzhou Fourth Hospital!"
That was the psychiatric hospital—a place people were superstitious about and generally avoided mentioning. Who, in their right mind, would want to bring that up?
Yang Changfeng didn't push his luck. In the rearview mirror, he clearly saw the red Passat following them. It was a modified car; the engine was definitely not stock. The car was running on diesel!
*Which bastard is spending this much money to mess with us?*
Yang Changfeng’s gaze turned cold and sharp. Clearly, this was aimed directly at Chen Aijia. As the Passat caught up, a small cargo truck appeared at the intersection ahead, blocking their path. The situation was obvious: they were trying to block Chen Aijia’s way home and settle things on the road.
Yang Changfeng sneered and told An Ya, "Don’t panic. Don't let them ram us. Just keep driving forward. Once they all expose themselves, you can stop. Heh, some people really aren't afraid of death, daring to pull a 'luring the tiger away from the mountain' trick on me."
For some reason, Chen Aijia turned back and mocked, "Luring the tiger away from the mountain? You think too highly of yourself. If you ask me, it’s more like a cat playing with a mouse!"
"Are you calling yourself the mouse?"
Chen Aijia puffed out her chest. "I’m talking about you. You’re the mouse—a mouse that specializes in chasing female celebrities!"
*I see. So that’s where this was heading.*
