Chapter 55: The School Beauty's Confession
Chapter Fifty-Five: The School Belle’s Confession
Liu Feifei skipped out of the classroom, pulling him along behind her, but a crowd trailed after them.
Some followed out of simple curiosity, hoping to hear whether Shi Bai could actually sing. Others, propelled by gossip, wanted to know what the two of them would do together, but most were driven by envy, their eyes tinged red as they watched to see just how far the pair’s relationship had developed.
Shi Bai and Liu Feifei made their way to the sports field. Liu Feifei looked at him with eager anticipation, her beautiful eyes sparkling. “Go ahead and sing! I really want to hear you.”
Shi Bai scratched his head and glanced around. The group behind quickly pretended to mind their own business—some chatting, some bowing their heads.
“All right then,” Shi Bai agreed. “I’ll sing.”
Liu Feifei broke into a delighted smile. “Great! You have the best voice! I know you’ll win first place!”
At once, the group’s curiosity was piqued. “Win first place? Is Shi Bai’s singing really that good?” They all perked up their ears.
Just then, a rough voice rang out, “The great river flows eastward! The stars above cluster around the Northern Dipper!”
“Pfft!”
The crowd nearly choked. “This is supposed to sound good? Not a single note was in tune!”
“He thinks he can win the championship with that? What a joke!”
But Liu Feifei clapped enthusiastically. “Amazing! That was wonderful!”
“Pfft!” The crowd was speechless, especially the boys secretly in love with Liu Feifei. “What’s wrong with my goddess?”
“Has her love for Shi Bai blinded her judgment?”
“No! This damned love has clouded her eyes completely!”
…
In short, under a barrage of laser-like gazes, Shi Bai and Liu Feifei grew ever closer.
That afternoon, as school let out, Shi Bai had planned to go play games with Gao Yang as usual, but unexpectedly, Gao Yang had left early. Shi Bai was puzzled at first, until Liu Feifei appeared, and he realized what had happened.
It was Liu Feifei who had sent Gao Yang away.
Today, Liu Feifei had dressed with special care. She wore a blue and white dress, her hair styled into twin ponytails. Shi Bai noticed she’d applied a touch of makeup, her cherry-like lips even more alluring.
As the other students trickled away, Liu Feifei pulled Shi Bai into hiding in the campus laboratory building.
They climbed the back stairs, with no one else around. Shi Bai’s heart skipped a beat. “What is this little minx planning?”
Liu Feifei hung her head, nervously twisting the hem of her dress, silent.
The lab building was quiet, sunlight streaming through corridor windows, illuminating the soft white hairline at the crown of Liu Feifei’s head—so clean, carrying a faint fragrance.
Shi Bai couldn’t help but be entranced. “This scent…”
Suddenly, Liu Feifei lifted her head, her eyes filled with shy embarrassment, as if her secret had been discovered—she had used her mother’s perfume today on purpose.
“Head & Shoulders! You use Head & Shoulders shampoo!” Shi Bai announced.
Liu Feifei froze, then punched Shi Bai hard. “You’re awful!”
But Shi Bai grabbed her little fist and laughed. “So, why did you bring me here? What are you up to?”
At once, Liu Feifei dropped her head again, her shy fist retreating. “I… I…”
Shi Bai looked at her, grinning mischievously and swung his backpack behind him. “If you won’t say it, I’ll just leave!”
“No!” Liu Feifei quickly grabbed his arm, her chest heaving with nervousness. “I… I…” After a long struggle, she finally blurted out, “I like you!”
Clang! Even though Shi Bai had mentally prepared himself, his heart still trembled at her words.
“Should I agree?” he wondered. “But isn’t this just the system’s effect? She only likes the reversed Shi Bai.”
A wave of frustration welled up in him. “What’s the point of a love like this? All I’d win is a robot’s affection.”
He steeled himself. “Forget it! Am I, Shi Bai, incapable of winning the heart of the woman I truly like? Besides, the one I really want to pursue is Xia Qing!” With that thought, he said resolutely, “Sorry! I don’t like you.”
Liu Feifei gasped, her eyes wide, tears welling visibly at the corners. “R-Really?”
Shi Bai felt a pang, but he had made his decision and did not relent. “That’s right, I could never like you.” As he spoke, he opened the system interface. “Can I cancel the previous task? I don’t want Liu Feifei to like me anymore.”
“You can,” the system replied. “But you’ll lose 50 Failure Points.”
Shi Bai currently had 70,587 Failure Points, so he agreed without hesitation.
“All right, task canceled.”
“Wait!” Shi Bai interrupted. “Hold on, I’ll tell you when to cancel it.”
“OK.”
By now, Liu Feifei was about to leave, but Shi Bai caught her by the arm.
She struggled to pull free. “What are you doing? Didn’t you just say you don’t like me?”
Shi Bai grinned wickedly. “I haven’t finished. Unless…”
Liu Feifei’s eyes flickered. “Unless what?”
Shi Bai said, “Unless you kiss me.”
Liu Feifei’s cheeks flushed scarlet, tears of joy shining in her eyes. “You’re terrible!”
But Shi Bai wouldn’t let her go. “Come, let’s not do this here.”
The two of them went to the little park and found a secluded spot. Shi Bai stretched out his neck. “Go ahead.”
Liu Feifei, cheeks burning, lowered her gaze. After a moment, she slowly moved closer, aiming for Shi Bai’s cheek.
“Not there. Here,” Shi Bai said, pointing at his neck.
Liu Feifei’s face grew even redder, but she obeyed, her cherry lips gently brushing his neck.
“Don’t move!” Just as her lips touched his skin, Shi Bai spoke.
Liu Feifei froze, holding still.
At that moment, Shi Bai summoned the system. “Cancel the task.”
“OK, task successfully canceled. 50 Failure Points deducted. You now have 70,537 Failure Points.”
!
Suddenly, the situation shifted. Liu Feifei, who had been nestled in Shi Bai’s arms, her gaze dreamy as she kissed his neck, abruptly recoiled like a startled rabbit.
“You!” She was about to speak, but Shi Bai cut her off.
“What are you doing?!” Shi Bai exclaimed in alarm, hugging himself. “I knew it! That’s why you called me to the lab building—you’ve been lusting after my body all along!”
Just then, a few adults passed through the park. Seeing the scene, they shook their heads and sighed.
“Girls these days get bolder and bolder—there’s nothing they won’t do!”
“Exactly! The decline of morals!”
“You…!” Liu Feifei glared at Shi Bai, her world turned upside down. She didn’t even know why she’d called him over, or why she’d just kissed him.
But Shi Bai carried on, “First you stole my first kiss, and now you want to steal my innocence! You’re too much! Boo hoo hoo…”
“You’re talking nonsense!” Liu Feifei was so furious she couldn’t even speak, tears streaming down her cheeks. “I did not!”
Seeing her cry, Shi Bai’s urge for revenge instantly vanished. He said quietly, “But since you’re not without charm, I’ll forgive you. Just remember: I’m the man you’ll never win, not in this lifetime.”
