Chapter Six: The Presidential Suite

Shi Bai was a little helpless. He might look and dress like a student, but that shouldn’t mean he wasn’t allowed to enter. So, Shi Bai said to the security guard, “I’ve booked the presidential suite. I’m here to stay.”

“What?” The security guard stared at Shi Bai in disbelief, as if he’d just heard a three-year-old child claim he wanted to host an international conference. Twirling his baton with a smirk, he said, “I’ve seen all sorts come through here, but none like you. Still a student and you want to stay in the presidential suite? Do you even know what that is?”

Shi Bai shook his head, exasperated. “So students aren’t allowed to stay in the presidential suite?”

The guard scoffed, “To be honest, I’ve never seen it happen. Especially someone like you. Do you know how much a night in the presidential suite costs? It’s more than your annual tuition.”

Shi Bai smiled faintly. “I’m not going to argue with you. Go call your lobby manager and let him verify with me personally.”

“Go on, get lost!” The guard gave Shi Bai a little shove. “If I called the manager for everyone, I’d be scolded to death. Off with you!”

Shi Bai’s temper flared. “This is your last chance. Let me in. Otherwise, you’ll regret it soon enough!”

“Oh, really?” The guard twirled his baton again. “What, you won’t take a kind word, so you want a hard one? Xiao Liu!” He called to another security guard, “Get over here and throw this kid out!”

A young guard soon joined him. Both stood at least six foot one, glowering down at Shi Bai. “If you don’t leave now, we’ll really show you out.”

Shi Bai gave a resigned laugh. “I know being a security guard isn’t easy, but with your attitude, you’re not even fit for this job.” He then dialed a number he’d called previously.

“Hello, yes, I’ve arrived, but your security won’t let me in.” Hanging up, he stood aside to wait.

The two guards stood there, mocking smiles on their faces. “He’s quite the actor. Let’s see who he can call over.”

Soon, a striking woman in a tailored suit hurried out, her face full of anxiety. She scolded the two guards, “Where is Mr. Shi? Why didn’t you let him in?”

The guards were stunned. “Mr. Shi? We didn’t see anyone like that…”

“That’s me,” Shi Bai stepped forward with a smile. “Are you the lobby manager?” he asked the woman.

She looked Shi Bai up and down, but his voice matched, so she quickly smiled apologetically. “So sorry, Mr. Shi! We didn’t greet you properly. Please, come in.”

The guards’ faces fell instantly—from fresh cucumbers to bitter gourds.

Shi Bai’s gaze turned cold. “It’s a small matter whether I come in or not, but these two guards need to be disciplined.”

“Absolutely!” the manager nodded quickly. “We’ll dismiss them immediately!”

“What?” The guards felt as if their world was ending. Of all the people to offend! But knowing they were in the wrong, they could only bow their heads.

To their surprise, Shi Bai waved it off. “No need for that. Dock them half a month’s pay. Any less and they won’t learn.”

The manager and the two guards froze, then the woman agreed at once, “You’re truly magnanimous, sir!” She gave each guard a tap. “Hurry up and thank him!”

The guards instantly broke into grins, bowing and nodding, “Thank you, young boss! Thank you for sparing us!”

Shi Bai simply glanced at them and walked into the hotel.

It wasn’t that he was especially kind. Having suffered enough in his previous life, he knew how hard it was for workers to make a living. Firing them would have been easy, but finding another decent job would be hard. A small lesson would serve them better in the long run.

“Sir, please come with me. Everything is ready. Just a small deposit, and you may check in,” the manager said.

“Alright.” Shi Bai followed her to the front desk and transferred three hundred thousand yuan in one go from his card. “No need for a deposit. I’ll pay it all at once.”

The receptionist was stunned. She’d never seen someone so decisive—especially someone so young. She couldn’t help but look at him with curiosity.

“The presidential suite has its own elevator and access. Would you like to use it?” the manager asked.

Shi Bai thought for a moment and nodded. Since he’d booked the presidential suite, he should enjoy the full experience.

“Very well! Butler Lee, please escort Mr. Shi upstairs.” The manager assigned him a guide.

Shi Bai saw an elderly foreign gentleman, perhaps in his fifties or sixties, dressed in a vest with a tie, looking quite dignified.

With one hand behind his back, the man bowed. “Mr. Shi, please follow me.”

Shi Bai accompanied him to the top floor by elevator. As the butler opened the door, Shi Bai stepped inside and was amazed by the space.

There were floor-to-ceiling windows, a home theater, a conference room, a game room, and even a private swimming pool.

“If you need anything, just let me know. I’ll do my best to fulfill any request,” Butler Lee said politely.

Shi Bai nodded, but then a curious thought struck him. “Why are you called Butler Lee? Aren’t you a foreigner?”

The old man chuckled. “When in Rome, do as the Romans do.”

Shi Bai grinned and said, “Could you bring me a hearty dinner?”

Butler Lee considered it. “I’m not sure of your tastes, but there’s an automatic ordering machine over there. You can use it.”

Sure enough, Shi Bai spotted the machine. “Alright, I’ll handle it. You may go. I’ll call if I need anything.”

“Very good.”

Sitting by the sofa, Shi Bai checked out the machine. There was Western food, Japanese cuisine, and even the entire Manchu Han Imperial Feast. He was overjoyed.

“Should I… go for the Manchu Han Imperial Feast?”

He glanced at the price—fifty thousand yuan for one table—and whistled. Then he saw the menu: 108 dishes.

“Good grief, how could I possibly finish all that? Better to wait until I’ve set up the manga company and invite the employees to enjoy it together.”

So, he ordered a Western steak instead. Truth be told, he’d never had a proper steak in his previous life.

After ordering, Shi Bai went to the conference room—about fifty square meters, with a long table that could seat more than twenty people.

He nodded in satisfaction. “This will do nicely for creating manga.” He immediately called Butler Lee in.

“Butler Lee, buy ten of the latest Apple laptops and drawing tablets.” He handed over his bank card.

The butler hesitated, wanting to ask why, but held his tongue—after all, a proper butler never pried. He accepted the card respectfully. “Yes, sir. I’ll see to it.”

Soon, the steak was delivered, along with a bottle of red wine. Shi Bai sliced off a piece and savored it—delicious.

After dining well and drinking his fill, Shi Bai opened his computer and posted a job advertisement on a hiring website.

After posting, Shi Bai clapped his hands. “My future employees are going to be the envy of all! If only I’d come across a company like this back in the day, I’d have knelt to the boss!”

With everything settled, he noticed it was already nine o’clock. After a swim, he showered and went to bed.

The next morning, Shi Bai woke up almost impatiently, eager to see how many applications he’d received. He’d expected an overwhelming response.

But when he checked the website—there wasn’t a single application.

“What the heck? Why is that?” Suddenly, it hit him. “Of course! It’s still too early. No one’s awake yet to see the job post.”

He decided to head to school and wait for replies later.

After washing up, he called for Butler Lee. “Do you really provide any service here?”

Butler Lee nodded. “As long as it’s within the law, we’ll do our best.”

“Great! Then take me to school.”

The butler paused, clearly surprised—he’d probably never received such a request before. But glancing at Shi Bai’s age, he understood. He bowed. “Yes, sir.”

Shi Bai then asked, “By the way, did you buy the laptops and drawing tablets?”

“They’re already downstairs. Since you didn’t specify where to put them, I left them there.” He handed the card back.

Shi Bai took his card. “Good. Put them all in the conference room.”

Butler Lee was a little puzzled but replied, “Yes, sir.”

He drove Shi Bai to school in a Rolls-Royce. To avoid unnecessary trouble, Shi Bai got off a stop early.

The morning at school was uneventful. After the early reading session, the homeroom teacher, Liu Xiaojuan, announced the arrival of a transfer student.

A stir swept through the class. The boys hoped for a beauty; the girls, for a handsome guy.

“Ye Ying’er, please come in.”

At the teacher’s call, the girls sighed—no way a guy had that name.

Sure enough, a tall, graceful girl stepped in. The class fell silent. She wore a pink Adidas tracksuit that perfectly outlined her elegant figure. Her lips were rosy, her teeth pearly white, and her features exquisite—a true beauty.

Shi Bai’s mind buzzed. “It’s you!”
