Chapter Forty-Seven: The Field of Carnage?
The two of them descended the stairs together.
When Amamiya Sayo saw the black and green motorcycle, she immediately recognized it as the one ridden by that female teacher before. Sensing the question in her gaze, Anwa took a helmet from the back of the motorcycle and, while helping Sayo put it on, explained, “It belonged to Teacher Ito. Her family cut off her financial support, so she was planning to sell the bike to get by. I happened to run into her.”
“So you bought the bike?” Sayo’s voice was muffled from inside the helmet.
At her words, Anwa slid up the visor, revealing Sayo’s slightly puzzled eyes, and chuckled, “So, Sayo-chan, are you already starting to care about your husband’s spending?”
Hearing this, Sayo’s lashes trembled slightly and she looked away, not answering.
That was tacit approval.
Anwa laughed inwardly and refrained from teasing her further. He swung onto the motorcycle and reached a hand out to Sayo.
“Come on, get on.”
She nodded, took his hand, and climbed onto the bike. Today, she wasn’t wearing a skirt but a pair of sky-blue tight jeans, so there was no need to worry about exposing herself. The jeans were bought by Anwa when he took Sayo shopping, and it was her first time wearing them. To be fair, her long, slender legs matched the tight style perfectly.
Was it just the jeans? No, you quickly denied it. In your mind, you pictured Sayo in a tight leather suit, holding a whip, walking slowly toward you struggling on the bed…
Why is it you who’s tied up, not her?
Anwa raised an eyebrow at the thought, finding the narrative rather improper. He shook his head to clear away those images, inserted the key into the lock, and turned it.
The engine purred to life, and the motorcycle rolled forward.
“Hold on tight,” he reminded her. Only when Sayo wrapped her small hands around his waist did he twist the throttle.
It took about ten minutes for the two to arrive at the Serizawa residence.
Parking the motorcycle, Anwa first stopped by a roadside supermarket to buy some fruit before heading upstairs with Sayo.
When they reached the door, Anwa rang the bell. Soon after, footsteps approached from inside.
With a click, the door swung open, and Serizawa Rena poked her head out. Seeing Anwa at the entrance, her eyes lit up and she quickly stepped aside to let them in.
“Good afternoon, Rena-chan,” Anwa said, but didn’t enter. Instead, he handed the two bags of fruit to Rena. When she instinctively took them, he continued, “I have to pick someone up, so I’ll be gone for about an hour.”
Then, shifting aside, he revealed Sayo behind him and introduced her, “This is Amamiya Sayo. While I’m away, please take care of her with Yui.”
“No problem, leave it to me!” Rena declared earnestly, patting her chest.
Anwa nodded, then offered a few words of advice to Sayo before turning to leave.
Watching his figure disappear around the corner of the corridor, Sayo finally withdrew her gaze. As she turned her head, she met eyes with Rena, who had also just turned toward her.
Their eyes met; Sayo’s expression remained calm, but Rena’s face instantly flushed, embarrassed at having her little secret exposed.
Seeing her reaction, Sayo’s eyes shifted slightly, as though she guessed something, but her face betrayed nothing.
“Big sister, who is this?” a girl’s voice suddenly called out, catching Sayo’s attention. She turned to see a girl standing at the entrance, bearing a resemblance to the one who opened the door.
On the way, Sayo had already learned some details about the Serizawa family from Anwa, so when the girl called her “sister,” Sayo immediately recognized her identity.
Serizawa Yui, Rena’s younger sister, the “other people’s little sister” Anwa often mentioned.
Whenever Anwa talked about Yui, he’d always have a face that said, “Why isn’t she my sister?” Sayo couldn’t help but smile at the thought.
But since Yui had just spoken, Sayo gave her a slight bow and introduced herself, “I’m Amamiya Sayo, Yusei’s… friend.”
“Friend?”
Yui wondered why Sayo hesitated so long over the word “friend,” but since she was Anwa’s friend, Yui couldn’t let her stand outside any longer. She quickly approached.
“Sorry for keeping you at the door so long, Amamiya-senpai.”
With that, Yui ushered Sayo inside. Passing Rena, she noticed the blush on her sister’s face, and remembering how Rena had seemed absent-minded just now, Yui’s expression darkened. She suddenly raised her hand and gave Rena a knock on the head.
“Ugh~~” Rena’s head was abruptly struck, and the pain brought her out of her daze. She held the sore spot, eyes glistening with tears.
“The guest was standing at the door, and you were daydreaming!” Yui scolded, taking on the tone of a parent. Rena, scolded, shrank back like a guilty little sister.
Witnessing all this, Sayo finally understood what Anwa meant by “little grown-up.”
After disciplining her sister, Yui led Sayo to the living room and went to the kitchen to prepare tea.
Once Yui left, Rena finally dared to return to the living room. Seeing Sayo looking over, Rena wore a pained expression. After confirming the kitchen door was closed, she grabbed a sketchpad and scribbled something on it, then held it up to her chest.
“My name is Serizawa Rena, and the one just now was my sister, Yui.”
Sayo nodded.
“I know, Yusei told me about you when he came.”
After she spoke, her gaze lingered on the spot where Rena had been struck, and she asked gently, “Does it still hurt?”
“No worries!” Rena waved her hand dismissively, though her heart warmed.
At first, seeing Sayo arrive with Anwa, Rena had felt a pang of disappointment, but now she realized she’d worried for nothing.
How could this gentle older sister possibly compete with her for Yusei?
Thinking this, Rena’s cheeks reddened again. She snuck a glance at the kitchen—still closed—then quickly scribbled something else on her sketchpad and held it out to Sayo, her eyes blinking hopefully.
“Sayo-chan, how did Yusei introduce me to you? Did he say I was cute?”
