Chapter 105: Can Daddy Have a Bite?

For the next week, while the baby napped during the day, Yu Zhile taught his wife to dance and made sure she practiced her singing too.
Because his wife wore the glamorous, mature-style outfits he'd bought her during dance practice—complete with sexy black stockings and red high heels—
she grew more radiant and womanly with each passing day, and her dancing became more stylish with each session. His own "nutrition" was getting harder and harder to keep up with!
So for the next week or two, Yu Zhile would once again have to unilaterally propose a ceasefire agreement and get some proper rest.
These past few days, his beloved wife had been serving him hearty tonic soups every day and pampering him with meticulous massages.
Truly, tired but happy!
...
On the weekend, taking advantage of her mother-in-law's usual visit to look after her granddaughter on her day off, Yu Zhile found time to go out for dinner and social engagements.
By now, Qin Haiyu felt completely at ease when her husband went out. It also showed that she was very confident in herself—she knew that even if he went out to have fun, he'd stay well-behaved and wouldn't have the energy to pay any mind to those vixens.
...
At the restaurant.
Yu Zhile arrived earlier than Yang Bing, since this time he was the one who'd invited Yang Bing out to dinner.
He ordered the dishes in advance. When Yang Bing arrived, Yu Zhile cut straight to the chase: "So? When do you plan to start filming Masked Singer?"
Yang Bing said eagerly: "There's exactly three weeks left before filming begins!"
Yu Zhile asked: "The starting lineup's all finalized now, right?"
Yang Bing nodded: "It's finalized!"
Yu Zhile then asked: "Old Yang, there won't be any vote rigging behind the scenes in your show, will there?"
Yang Bing gave a wry smile: "There definitely can't be any! This is the first show I've been personally in charge of in my life. I have to be worthy of my own conscience—worthy of this heart of mine that loves music and dedicates itself to music!"
"Admirable! Truly admirable!"
Yu Zhile teased, then laughed: "Well, as long as there's no rigging, we're good! I was just worried you'd pull some strings out of our friendship and get me advancing all the way."
"Don't worry, I'll be absolutely just and impartial!"
After saying this, Yang Bing suddenly had a flash of inspiration: "Hey, 'iron-faced and impartial'—that's a great phrase! I'll have someone design iron wire masks. When the show airs, the entire crew will wear them, to show the audience this is a music competition with no bias and no behind-the-scenes tricks!"
Yu Zhile was impressed: "Your creative ideas really do come out of nowhere! Speaking of which, can that plush doll costume I asked you to have prepared actually be made?"

Yang Bing said: "That's no problem, but what the hell is 'Patrick Star'? The name has me completely confused and lost."
Yu Zhile said: "Patrick Star is SpongeBob's best friend!"
Yang Bing was dumbfounded: "And what the hell is SpongeBob?"
Yu Zhile said: "My wife's fans gave our daughter the nickname 'Little Sea Fish Baby,' right? So SpongeBob and Little Sea Fish Baby are clearly destined for each other!"
"Uh... my head is spinning! If SpongeBob is destined for Little Sea Fish Baby, then why not call it SpongeBob, and instead call it Patrick Star?"
The more he heard, the less Yang Bing understood what Yu Zhile was trying to say!
Yu Zhile laughed: "Because calling it SpongeBob would be way too easy to figure out! Patrick Star is much safer. Forget it—you wouldn't get it! With your IQ, it's hard for me to explain. Anyway, just have someone design the costume according to the pictures I sent you. And remember, you have to keep my participation in the show a secret. No one can know except you!"
Yang Bing patted his chest: "I've got it handled—rest assured! For the singers we've signed so far, besides me, only Director Zhang knows their identities. This time, just to keep the secret for you, I've even held it back from Director Zhang. He's so curious about who Patrick Star is that he's started threatening me, demanding I tell him!"
Yu Zhile said: "You absolutely must not tell him! I'm afraid he might slip up and ruin my plan!"
"What plan?" Yang Bing was curious.
Yu Zhile chuckled: "Old Yang, this is exactly why you're still single! My wife is joining the show with me—what other plan could I possibly have?"
"Uh... got it, got it!"
Yang Bing said with exasperation: "Your 'plan' is basically to show off your love and torture the singles, isn't it?"
"Cough, something like that."
Yu Zhile said: "But I do have ambition and dreams! Winning the championship might be tough, but if I give it my all, I think making it to the finals is definitely within reach!"
Yang Bing reminded him: "That'll depend on your live performance and song choices! Let me give you some inside info: the singers on this show are all tremendously strong vocalists. So once everyone's wearing masks and headgear, what you're really competing on isn't popularity or fame—it's musical ability!"
"Of course!" Yu Zhile smiled. "Besides, in terms of popularity and fame, I'm hardly a notable name in the music scene anyway!"
Yang Bing said: "Then you're underestimating yourself! The songs your wife made famous last year were all written by you. Just on that basis alone, your popularity in the music scene is already impressive! Not to mention you're also the godfather of pure love in the fiction world and the supernova of children's literature!"
"Maybe so!"
Yu Zhile smiled. Although he had never officially debuted, his popularity and reputation were apparently not to be underestimated.
Especially with the added identity of being Qin Haiyu's husband, many people were looking forward to his debut and gossiping about what he actually looked like in real life.
After dinner, Yu Zhile packed up some food to bring home for his wife and mother.

On the way, he passed a bakery and went in specially to buy two of the milk-flavored buns his daughter really liked.
When he got home and opened the door, Yu Zhile heard the baby calling "Daddy!" and watched her toddle over and wrap her arms around his leg.
"Sweetie, did Daddy going out today make you cry?"
Yu Zhile picked up the little one and gave her a kiss. The baby understood half of it, and in her soft, lisping, imperfect voice said: "No cwy!"
Yu Zhile laughed: "It's cry—cuh-r-y!"
Baby: "Cwy... cwy..."
"Haha, you little silly!"
Yu Zhile laughed: "Mom, from now on it's up to you to save our granddaughter's Mandarin pronunciation!"
Yu's mother said: "She's still little. Being able to understand that much and say that many words already makes her very clever!"
Qin Haiyu took the takeout snacks her husband had brought back, then noticed he'd also bought two milk-flavored buns. She took the baby from his arms, tore off a small piece of the bun, and fed it to her little by little.
"Is it good?" she asked.
The baby nodded her little head, smacking her lips: "Tashy..."
Qin Haiyu asked: "Mommy wants to try some too. Can Mommy have a bite?"
The baby clapped her little hands and nodded. Qin Haiyu tore off a tiny piece and chewed it, humming in satisfaction: "It really is tasty. The baby is such a good girl!"
Seeing this, Yu Zhile asked: "Daddy wants some too. Can the baby let Daddy have a bite?"
The baby clapped her little hands and nodded too...
Yu Zhile suddenly grabbed the baby's little arm, opened his mouth, and gave it a gentle bite, saying: "The baby is delicious!"
"..."
Qin Haiyu couldn't bear to watch: "So childish!"
The baby stared at her arm, her big eyes full of confusion. Then, as if realizing something, she suddenly pursed her little lips and looked like she was about to cry!
Yu Zhile panicked. She had been perfectly fine just now—why was she suddenly on the verge of tears?
