Chapter 128: It’s Starting to Feel a Bit Like Qin Haiyu [First Installment]

“I’m absolutely one of a kind!”
That lyric sounded so commanding!
Combined with the irresistible, get-up-and-dance rhythm of the rock song, it struck straight at the heart and filled everyone with energy!
Yes!
We were all one of a kind!
No one could replace anyone else!
Qin Haiyu’s rock performance had not only expressed her own confidence and vitality, but had also instilled confidence in the audience and stirred up their energy!
In the back rows of the audience, quite a few people had already risen to their feet, swaying their waists, waving their hands, and bobbing their heads to the beat…
Clearly, this song had truly set the whole venue ablaze!
Yu Zhile felt that his wife had this one in the bag!
Even if he did not hold back in his own performance, it would still be difficult for him to beat her. After all, the rock song his wife was singing was genuinely thrilling! A song that could effortlessly whip up the atmosphere gave her a tremendous advantage in a competition.
Once the audience got swept up in the excitement, they would generally be willing to vote.
Now that the spectators in the back rows had all risen to their feet and begun “striking alluring poses,” it was obvious that they had already fallen in love with the rock song.
After Qin Haiyu finished singing “One of a Kind,” the audience immediately erupted into cheers. Even the judges had been swept up in the excitement. Even Judge Wu, a veteran of the industry, was now bouncing his leg nonstop after being worked up by her rock performance.
“Absolutely amazing! This doesn’t feel like a program recording at all. It feels more like we’re at a concert!”
“Incredible! This is the most exhilarating female rock performance I’ve ever heard!”
…
The judges heaped praise upon her!
At the same time, they were even more eager to see how Patrick Star would go up against Red Rose.
Thus, after the audience finished voting for Red Rose, Patrick Star was immediately due to take the stage.
However, when the screen displayed the title of the song Patrick Star was about to perform, the judges were disappointed, and the audience followed suit.
No one had expected Patrick Star to sing a cover song next!
Qin Haiyu, who had returned backstage, was utterly astonished as well. A month ago, Patrick Star had recorded three original songs for the program. Every one of them had been excellent, and all three had gone viral across the internet.
After an entire month, everyone had assumed that Patrick Star would continue bringing out original songs in the semifinals and charge triumphantly into the finals. Yet no one had expected him not to perform another original song in the semifinals!
In other words, had he already finished singing all his unreleased original songs, leaving him with nothing new to offer from here on?
If that was the case, then even winning against him would hardly feel gratifying!

Qin Haiyu was somewhat disappointed. If she had known this would happen, she would not have sung “One of a Kind”!
At that moment, Yu Zhile was earnestly singing a cover of a song that was not particularly pleasant. His entire state seemed to suggest that he had given up on treatment and abandoned the struggle altogether!
The judges even began to wonder whether Patrick Star had been replaced by someone else. Compared with the Patrick Star who had won the title of King of Singing in two consecutive episodes, the current Patrick Star was practically a different person!
It was as if an aggressive little fish had suddenly turned into a salted fish.
Thus, after Yu Zhile finished singing and the votes for him and Red Rose were revealed, the difference was so absurdly enormous that it was almost comical!
Red Rose: 4 votes!
Patrick Star: 323 votes!
The gap was not merely a little large—it was colossal!
Ni Qiqin spoke up. “Congratulations to Red Rose on successfully advancing to the second round of the competition!”
“Congratulations!”
Yu Zhile offered his congratulations as well, putting on an exaggeratedly theatrical display of praise. “That rock song you just sang was incredible!”
“Thank you!”
Qin Haiyu gave a slight nod. Although she had defeated Patrick Star and smoothly advanced to the second round, she still could not afford to relax.
The second round required her to place among the top three in order to advance to the finals. She would have to continue working hard and giving it her all!
Yu Zhile returned backstage. There was still another group of singers waiting to take the stage and compete. Once they had finished performing, the four winners would immediately begin the second-round competition, in which four contestants would fight for three advancing spots.
After that would come the five-against-two gauntlet breakthrough round, so filming for today’s program would last quite a while.
Half an hour later.
The four singers who had won their first-round matchups finally began the second round of competition!
This time, Qin Haiyu drew the first spot and would be the first to take the stage.
Once again, she would be performing an original song prepared for her by her husband!
It was just that, on this program, she had been credited as both lyricist and composer, using her stage name. As a result, everyone now firmly believed that she was a gifted songwriter and a musical prodigy!
Backstage, Yu Zhile continued putting on his theatrical act. “Amazing! She even has another original song! How many original songs has she performed on this program now?”
A female singer from the program called Happy Yaya suddenly said nervously, “Teacher Patrick Star, there’s no way you came to the semifinals without preparing an original song, right? I don’t want to be crushed by you in the semifinals!”
Yu Zhile said, “You should be grateful that Red Rose is advancing. Otherwise, with those two original songs of hers, she would definitely win the gauntlet round!”
Lone Wolf suddenly sighed. “The two of you are both monsters on this program!”
From the very first episode, he had already experienced the terror of being dominated by the couple. He had never expected that now, in the semifinals, he would still have to live under their domination!

Although he had made it through the first-round matchup, he still had very little confidence in the four-against-three competition.
After all, everyone who had reached the semifinals was a complete freak of nature in his eyes!
Onstage, Qin Haiyu sang a song that was pleasant to the ear, but far too unpredictable to be a safe choice for a competition.
“This is a simple little love song,
Singing of the twists and turns within people’s hearts.
I think I’m very happy
Whenever your warmth is near.
The air around my feet has turned…”
It was a love song, and its title was equally plain and straightforward: “Little Love Song.”
Compared with the rock song “One of a Kind” she had sung earlier, Qin Haiyu, now performing “Little Love Song,” presented the audience with yet another completely transformed image!
The judges were utterly bewildered!
“I’m completely stunned! How can she switch styles so drastically? One moment she was singing rock with such fiery intensity, and now she’s singing a love song with such tenderness! I’m starting to wonder whether she’s been replaced!”
Judge Wu suddenly narrowed his eyes. “Why do I feel that her voice in this song sounds a little like Qin Haiyu’s?”
The female judge said, “That can’t be possible, can it? Qin Haiyu isn’t a singer-songwriter.”
Judge Wu suddenly said, “What if all the original songs she’s performed on this program were actually written by her husband?”
It was the kind of remark that awakened someone from a dream!
Judge Wu’s words immediately made the other three judges suspicious as well!
Now that they listened closely to the “Little Love Song” Red Rose was performing, it really did carry the distinctive flavor of Qin Haiyu singing a love song!
“If she really is Qin Haiyu, then she’s hidden herself very deeply!”
With the finals drawing near, the identities of the singers were gradually beginning to emerge.
But there was still one greatest mystery.
If Red Rose really was Qin Haiyu, then who exactly was Patrick Star?
The answer would probably have to wait until the live broadcast of the finals began two weeks later!
