Staring blankly at the child and the phone, Yu Zhile was at a loss for words to describe his feelings at this moment.

He couldn’t say he was happy, but he wasn’t exactly upset either.

By all rights, Yu Zhile should have felt excited and overjoyed—after all, the goddess he’d secretly admired was now his wife! And she’d given birth to such an adorable little daughter!

But he truly couldn’t muster any excitement or happiness right now.

This happiness had crashed upon him too suddenly, before he’d had time to prepare himself, making it hard to accept all at once.

Especially after crossing over, he had absolutely no memories from the original owner in his mind!

Which meant, at this moment, he had no idea how he and Qin Haiyu had fallen in love, gotten married, or ultimately had this child!

So, he couldn’t feel excited or happy. Apart from confusion, he even felt a tinge of panic.

But now that things were as they were, he seemed to have no choice but to accept the reality of this crossing.

Yu Zhile sat on the bed, nervously and awkwardly picking up his darling daughter, who had been crying incessantly since he woke.

He looked at her tiny foot, reddened from his earlier slap, and was filled with guilt.

“There, there, don’t cry, don’t cry…” he comforted her gently, holding the little one in his arms.

Yet, his face lacked the doting, caring, and tender expression of a parent.

After all, just moments ago, he had been nothing more than a second-year university student—a single man.

Such a drastic shift in identity would leave anyone as bewildered as he was.

So, even after accepting the fact that he’d crossed over, Yu Zhile would need time to adapt to this new life.

Most ridiculous of all, he was now a father, yet didn’t even know his daughter’s name…

In the novels he’d read, the main character always merged memories upon crossing over, but he, having leapt into his future self, hadn’t fused with a single fragment of memory!

If Qin Haiyu walked in right now, he wouldn’t know how to face her. He didn’t even know whether to call her “wife” or some other endearing nickname.

Luckily, it seemed the house was empty except for him and his daughter. Otherwise, someone would have come in long ago to check on the crying child.

Yu Zhile was so nervous that sweat beaded on his forehead.

What should he do about the baby crying nonstop?

He had absolutely no experience raising a child!

He gently rubbed the tiny foot, small enough to fit entirely in one hand. The little one was crying so fiercely only because his earlier slap had been a tad too strong.

Then Yu Zhile noticed a drool bib and a pacifier on the nightstand. Inspired, he quickly grabbed the pacifier and placed it in the baby’s mouth.

And then…

The little one smacked her lips, crying and biting the pacifier at the same time. The relentless crying began to break up into pauses as the pacifier found its way into her mouth.

Soon, the smacking sounds grew rhythmic…

She finally stopped crying, and, as if hungry, sucked hard on the pacifier with adorable determination.

“Phew!” Yu Zhile breathed a sigh of relief, feeling as if a weight had been lifted as he placed her back on the bed. Yet, as soon as she was put down, she opened her mouth and wailed again!

Yu Zhile had no choice but to pick her up once more…

It was strange!

Each time he held her, the crying ceased; put her down, and she wailed anew. He was forced to keep holding her, feeling utterly exhausted.

He sat heavily on the bed, cradling the now quiet, pacifier-sucking little one in one arm, while hesitantly reaching for his phone with the other, opening the photo album.

The album was almost entirely filled with photos and videos documenting his daughter’s life.

There were a few photos and videos of Qin Haiyu, but so few that Yu Zhile began to worry—had his future self and Qin Haiyu encountered marital issues?

He checked WeChat and found an unmistakable contact labeled “Queen Wife.”

No doubt the Queen Wife was Qin Haiyu.

He clicked in to check the chat history.

Yu Zhile’s worries deepened.

As husband and wife, they seemed to discuss their daughter’s well-being through text messages?

Could it be that, five years from now, they really had marital problems?

Ordinarily, in the months after marriage and the birth of a baby, the family of three should be enjoying the happiest, most blissful phase of marriage.

Yet, these written exchanges made it seem as though there were emotional issues between them.

He scrolled further back through the chat, noticing that earlier records were mostly voice messages.

Listening to them, he suddenly realized something astonishing.

His wife was recording a program?

This was a bombshell!

Though the chat didn’t reveal what kind of show she was recording, Yu Zhile deduced from the voice messages that his wife was likely a celebrity.

No wonder the most recent chats were in text—she must have been recording and couldn’t speak.

Looking further back, Yu Zhile found that their marital issues seemed not so dire after all. However, analyzing the tone and content, their relationship didn’t seem as sweet and wonderful as he’d imagined.

He couldn’t pinpoint where the problem lay, but he desperately wanted to learn what major events had occurred over the past five years. Otherwise, adapting to this world and his new role as a stay-at-home father would be impossible.

First, he’d start by learning about his wife.

Qin Haiyu.

He opened the browser and searched her name. If his wife was truly a celebrity, he’d easily find detailed biographical information.

Just as he thought!

Qin Haiyu’s biography popped up immediately.

Clicking in, he found that the photos matched Qin Haiyu, but the details left him stunned.

Singer?

That couldn’t be right.

At university, Qin Haiyu majored in broadcasting. How did she become a singer five years later?

And what about him?

He’d studied music in college!

Could it be…

Could it be that he was a star as well?

A superstar, even?

If his wife, a broadcasting major, was now a famous singer, then surely he, a music major, was practically a musical legend!

That made sense!

His wife’s success as a singer must have been thanks to his guidance as a husband from the music department!

Yu Zhile was finally feeling a bit excited. He didn’t even bother looking further into his wife’s details and immediately searched his own name.

Soon, the search results appeared!

He scrolled through the results, frowning and muttering incredulously at the screen, “Why isn’t there a biography of me online?”
