"Honey, time to eat!"
An hour later, Qin Haiyu came out, carrying three small dishes and a little pot of soup.
Yu Zhile had just finished watching the latest episode of "I Am a Singer." He had browsed online for information about the host and the singers, but his mind hadn't fully digested it yet.
He stood up, holding his daughter who was perched on his lap, tugging at his clothes and chewing on her pacifier. "Alright, I'll go get the bowls!"
Qin Haiyu said sweetly, "No, you have to wash your hands first!"
Yu Zhile laughed, "Yes, my dear granny."
Qin Haiyu couldn’t help but break character, chuckling, "Good boy, my dear grandpa!"
"..."
Yu Zhile surrendered, "Honey, let's just be normal, shall we?"
"Hehe, give me the baby, you go wash your hands and bring out the bowls and chopsticks."
Qin Haiyu snapped back to normal, took the baby in her arms, and showered her with kisses. Yu Zhile suspected that the baby's soft, bouncy, adorable cheeks were all thanks to Qin Haiyu's endless affection.
He was quite envious...
But thinking about the nourishing soup Qin Haiyu had made and the "important matters" awaiting tonight, Yu Zhile wasn’t feeling so jealous anymore!
He washed his hands, then brought out two sets of bowls and chopsticks. Qin Haiyu set the baby in her high chair, gently scraped the baby's tiny nose with her index finger, and spoke tenderly, "Be good, darling. After Mommy and Daddy finish eating, we'll give you your milk."
If it weren’t for the fact that "milk" was pronounced with the first tone, Yu Zhile would have thought this was the start of a horror story!
Qin Haiyu ladled the soup, saying, "Honey, the soup is still hot. Drink it slowly."
Yu Zhile wanted to ask what kind of soup it was, but then thought, if this was a soup they often had, asking would make Qin Haiyu suspicious.
So he simply didn't ask, picked up some meat from the soup—he couldn't quite tell what animal it was—blew on it a few times, then chewed carefully and swallowed slowly.
He took a small sip of soup, saying, "Your cooking is always so delicious!"
"Drink slowly, it's still hot!"
Qin Haiyu scooped a bowl of rice.
Noticing she wasn't drinking any soup herself, Yu Zhile realized Qin Haiyu was serious this time!
This must be a special tonic soup meant for men!
Otherwise, why wouldn’t Qin Haiyu have any?
Too bad there wasn’t more soup, or he could stuff himself tonight!
After finishing half a bowl of soup, considering that tonight he might have to work as hard as hauling bricks on a construction site, Yu Zhile dug in heartily, eating two big bowls of rice and finishing three large bowls of tonic soup, leaving his stomach bulging!

Burp~
He was stuffed!
He even scraped his plate clean in the end!
Qin Haiyu noticed her husband's appetite had grown and thought to herself that she'd need to cook more rice from now on, or he wouldn't get enough to eat...
She had left all the food for Yu Zhile, so she herself wasn’t even a quarter full, but seeing her husband eat so heartily made her feel deeply satisfied and happy.
"Honey, go make formula for the baby. I'll clean up the dishes."
Yu Zhile replied decisively, "No, chores like this are my job from now on! You focus on feeding the baby!"
Qin Haiyu smiled, exasperated, "Alright, alright, I'll go feed the baby."
Phew...
Another tricky situation dodged!
Making formula?
How would he do that?
How many scoops of powder?
What temperature should the water be?
All too complicated for him!
So Yu Zhile quickly claimed the task of cleaning up, secretly planning to study up online tonight about making baby formula, so he wouldn’t miss the chance to avoid it next time.
While he diligently scrubbed dishes, Qin Haiyu went out to gather the laundry, then came back to the living room to prepare the formula and feed the baby.
When Yu Zhile finished cleaning and came out, Qin Haiyu was still sitting on the sofa, cradling the baby and gently holding the bottle, lovingly feeding her.
Yu Zhile’s gaze always drifted away from the baby and landed on Qin Haiyu instead.
Perhaps it was because he felt no strong bond with his daughter yet, but his love for Qin Haiyu was deep and passionate.
The little one sucked on her pacifier vigorously, obviously quite hungry.
Yu Zhile sat down and couldn’t help but pinch the baby’s soft, plump cheeks. The sensation was delightful, almost addictive.
Qin Haiyu scolded him, half playfully, "Don’t keep pinching her cheeks! The reason she drools so much is because you always squeeze her little face!"
"You can’t blame me!"
Yu Zhile, though inexperienced as a father, knew the cause of a baby’s drooling.
He explained, "Babies drool because they're teething. When the milk teeth push through the gums, it causes mild swelling and discomfort, stimulating the nerves and triggering the salivary glands to secrete more. So it's perfectly normal, and has nothing to do with pinching her cheeks!"

"Still, no cheek-pinching!"
Qin Haiyu huffed, "She’s so adorable, how can you pinch her little face?"
Yu Zhile laughed, reached over, and pinched Qin Haiyu’s cheek. "It's precisely because you're cute that I want to pinch! For example, you look as adorable as the baby—I just can’t help myself."
Qin Haiyu smiled, feigning annoyance, "Such a smooth talker!"
Yu Zhile released her after pinching twice. Though her cheeks weren't as soft as the baby's, they were still pleasant to touch.
Qin Haiyu’s skin was excellent—soft, moist, and full of bounce, either naturally beautiful or well cared for.
But she had slight eye bags and dark circles, evidence of poor sleep—likely from waking up often to care for the baby at night.
Yu Zhile wanted to ask why they hadn’t hired a nanny, but he knew better than to risk suspicion by asking too many questions.
At that moment, Yu Zhile thought of his mother.
Should he call home?
This wasn’t his original world, but a parallel one five years in the future. Yet his family, classmates, and friends hadn’t changed!
He had crossed over, and there was a five-year gap with no memories. If he called home, he wouldn’t know what the situation was.
His mother, being an elementary teacher back home, would be busy in September and unable to help with the baby.
As for Qin Haiyu’s family...
Disaster!
Who were his father- and mother-in-law? What did they look like? He had no idea!
Before he crossed over, he hadn’t even confessed to Qin Haiyu yet...
Yu Zhile sensed a real crisis!
If he ran into his in-laws outside and ignored them, not even greeting them, wouldn’t that be a disaster?
Clearly, his situation was precarious!
Not only did he need to teach his wife to sing, he had to catch up on a lot of things!
Yu Zhile found an excuse to slip away: "Honey, you've worked hard with the baby. I'll head to the study to take care of something!"
