Chapter 85: Perhaps It’s True Love, or Brotherhood
Song Kai turned his head and saw a man built like a bull approaching. This fellow was truly massive—his arms were thicker than Song Kai’s thighs. Clearly, he was someone who spent all day in the gym. His frame was so broad that his width nearly matched his height.
Song Kai smiled wryly to himself. Could this guy have been brought in by the police to deal with Liu Qiang too? If so, Liu Qiang was having a rough time indeed: bullied by Yang Kai in his cell, and now, during yard time, harassed by this brute. What a life… the thought was both sour and strangely exhilarating.
Liu Qiang pressed nervously against Song Kai’s back, his voice trembling. “That’s him, Brother Kai, that’s him—Sun Hanhu. He’s here for molesting boys… he’s a real pervert.”
“Well, well! Fresh meat, you’ve got some nerve calling me a pervert. But you know what? I am a pervert! Hahaha!” Sun Hanhu laughed as he strode over to Song Kai and Liu Qiang.
Liu Qiang was shaking uncontrollably.
Song Kai stood up, placing himself between Sun Hanhu and Liu Qiang. “He’s my friend. Leave him alone.”
“Leave him alone?” Sun Hanhu looked Song Kai up and down, his massive chest muscles twitching with every breath—those muscles were a spectacle in themselves, more impressive than any celebrity’s.
“Fine, I’ll let him go. But you—look at you, smooth skin and tender flesh. Why don’t you come play with me today instead?”
“Play what?” Song Kai narrowed his eyes, smiling coolly.
“Play... the soap game, of course. Come on, follow me.” As he spoke, Sun Hanhu reached out to grab Song Kai’s shoulder.
Song Kai brushed his arm aside. “Sorry, I don’t like that game. Go find someone else.”
Sun Hanhu burst out laughing, wild and arrogant. “Kid, this isn’t a game you can just choose to play or not. You stand up for Liu Qiang, so you take his place.”
The commotion on the basketball court drew the attention of other inmates. They edged closer, but when they saw Sun Hanhu, none dared approach. Clearly, no one wanted to risk being dragged into the soap game. Even Yang Kai, a small-time gang boss, showed wariness toward Sun Hanhu.
It was rumored Sun Hanhu had trained in boxing—his punch could allegedly kill a horse. With a build like that and fists the size of stew pots, who would dare challenge him?
“Brother Kai, this is going to be good,” a burly man whispered to Yang Kai. “Looks like that greenhorn is about to get a lesson from Sun Hanhu.”
Yang Kai watched the scene, stroking his chin. “Actually, I’m not so sure.”
“Not sure?” The burly man looked at Yang Kai in surprise. “You don’t think that kid can take Sun Hanhu, do you?”
Yang Kai shook his head. “Of course not. Sun Hanhu supposedly beat a professional boxer—he’s no joke. But Song Kai… he’s vicious. When he fights, he doesn’t care about his own life. I think Sun Hanhu might not have it all his way.”
“R-really?” The burly man was skeptical.
Everyone around was watching intently.
Sun Hanhu was even more pleased with himself. He loved being the center of attention. He licked his lips, eyes glinting. “Kid, I like that fiery attitude. Heh, come with me.” Once again, he reached for Song Kai’s shoulder.
This time, Song Kai didn’t dodge. He nodded. “Alright, I’ll come on my own.”
Sun Hanhu laughed uproariously. “That’s more like it! Getting your backdoor plowed isn’t so bad, you know. And if you prefer to be on top, I’ll let you have a go at me.”
Song Kai almost gagged at that. He walked over to Sun Hanhu, and as he drew close, he stripped off his own shirt.
“Eager, are we?” Sun Hanhu roared with laughter.
Seeing Song Kai undressing, Liu Qiang was so moved he had tears in his eyes. He rushed over, shouting, “Brother Kai, don’t do this! You can’t sacrifice yourself for me! If someone’s going, it should be me!”
Song Kai glanced back at Liu Qiang, surprised by his loyalty.
Of course, Song Kai had no intention of sacrificing himself.
He flashed Sun Hanhu a smile.
Sun Hanhu grinned back, rubbing his hands together with anticipation.
Suddenly, Song Kai flung his shirt over Sun Hanhu’s head, and in the same motion, drove his fist hard into Sun Hanhu’s eye.
“Ah! Damn you—I’m going to kill you!” Sun Hanhu roared, clawing at the shirt covering his face.
Song Kai deftly tied the sleeves into a tight knot—so tight it couldn’t be undone in a hurry. Then, he pummeled Sun Hanhu’s face with a barrage of punches, treating him like a heavy bag.
Sun Hanhu was strong, but with both hands occupied by the shirt, he couldn’t free himself.
In desperation, Sun Hanhu lunged, trying to grab Song Kai in a bear hug.
Song Kai ducked low and, with a resounding thud, kicked Sun Hanhu square in the groin.
Sun Hanhu howled in agony and collapsed to the ground.
Song Kai showed no mercy, kicking Sun Hanhu’s face again and again.
Thud. Thud. Thud.
Kick after kick.
At first, Sun Hanhu cursed loudly, but soon he no longer had the strength or courage—he could only beg for mercy.
But Song Kai didn’t let up. He hated perverts like Sun Hanhu, so he held nothing back.
Eventually, Sun Hanhu was left trembling on the ground, unable even to beg for mercy.
“What’s going on! What are you doing!” Two police officers from the detention center rushed over, batons in hand. Unaware that Song Kai was an undercover agent, they began swinging at him.
In fact, only three people knew Song Kai’s true identity: Wu Hongying, Captain Yan Chengjin, and the head of the detention center.
A rubber baton crashed down on Song Kai’s back.
He ignored it, continuing to kick Sun Hanhu in the face.
“That’s enough, Brother Kai, that’s enough! You’ll kill him!” Liu Qiang hurried forward and pulled Song Kai away.
The two officers quickly checked on Sun Hanhu. When they tore the shirt from his face, both nearly vomited.
Sun Hanhu’s face was a bloody mask, hideously disfigured. One eyeball was nearly hanging out, his nose bent at an unnatural angle.
“Dear god!”
“Horrifying—what a ruthless bastard.”
“Brother Kai, this guy… really can’t be messed with.”
Everyone nearby stared at Song Kai in terror.
Soon, more officers arrived and escorted Song Kai to solitary confinement.
The detention center buzzed with speculation about Song Kai’s background—where had such a vicious man come from?
Yard time ended, and Liu Qiang returned to his cell. Song Kai was still in solitary. This time, none of Yang Kai’s group dared go near Liu Qiang; even without Song Kai present, they didn’t dare bully him.
Liu Qiang sat on his bed and wept, deeply moved by Song Kai’s loyalty.
That evening, a police officer came to see Liu Qiang. “Liu Qiang, your family’s here to see you!”
Liu Qiang got up and followed the officer. In the visiting room outside, a woman in a black pencil skirt sat waiting, her expression stern.
“Sis!” Liu Qiang hurried over.
Liu Qian nodded at him, a brief smile flickering across her face before it vanished. “Little brother, I’ve officially filed a lawsuit against the police department. Trust me—you’ll be out on bail in three days.”
Liu Qiang nodded, then shook his head. “No, Sis, I’m not leaving.”
“What?” Liu Qian frowned. “Why not?”
Liu Qiang said, “Sis, unless you bail out both me and Song Kai together, I’m not leaving. Even if you succeed in getting bail, I won’t go!”
“Song Kai? Who’s that? Don’t be ridiculous at a time like this!” Liu Qian’s face was icy.
“Song Kai just arrived today. He’s a man of real loyalty, and a good person. Honestly, Sis, he only got arrested because he stood up for someone and beat up Tang Fu. You have to get him out as well, or I won’t leave.” With that, Liu Qiang turned and walked back into the detention center.
Liu Qian sat there, frowning in confusion. Her little brother had always been spoiled and pampered, bullied in prison and desperate to get out. Yet now, he was willing to stay for another’s sake? Since when had he become so loyal?
After a moment’s thought, Liu Qian stood up. She decided to look into this Song Kai’s file.
Meanwhile, Song Kai sat alone in solitary, unfed and without water. He didn’t mind, sitting on the bed as he cultivated the Nine Thunder Internal Energy.
With each breath, energy circulated within him, lightning crackled—it was as if he was at one with nature.
A metallic clang sounded—the door to solitary swung open, and a graceful figure stepped inside.
Song Kai opened his eyes to see Wu Hongying entering, carrying a boxed meal.
He grinned. “Well, I’m honored to have Officer Wu personally deliver my food.”
It was indeed Wu Hongying.
She set the meal on the table and glared at Song Kai. “Song Kai! Are you insane? Do you have any idea you nearly killed Sun Hanhu?”
Song Kai was unfazed. “He deserved it. With that vicious face and brute strength, if he ever got out, I guarantee kids outside would be in danger.”
Song Kai opened the meal—roast chicken, steak, and a generous serving of rice. He chuckled and dug in.
Watching him wolf down his food, Wu Hongying actually felt a little guilty. After all, Song Kai was enduring all this hunger for the sake of his undercover mission.
“Alright, enough about Sun Hanhu. There’s news—Liu Qian is now investigating your case, trying to get you out on bail. Impressive, you’ve already gained the trust of both Liu Qian and Liu Qiang,” Wu Hongying said with a smile, leaning against the wall.
Song Kai finished his meal, wiped his mouth, and said, “Actually, I don’t think Liu Qiang is a bad person. He makes mistakes, but he’s got a good heart.”
Wu Hongying sighed, folding her arms. “That’s the problem. Neither Liu Qian nor Liu Qiang are bad people—especially Liu Qian. She’s a famous lawyer in our city, known for defending the powerless. Honestly, I can’t understand why a woman like that would go to such lengths to protect Overlord Long, that notorious drug lord.”
Song Kai considered this for a moment, then smiled. “Maybe it’s true love. You know how love makes women lose their senses.”
“Oh, get out of here! You’re still wet behind the ears—don’t pretend you understand women!” Wu Hongying gave him a playful slap on the shoulder, then laughed. She packed up the empty meal box. “You’ll be back in Cell Five first thing tomorrow. I bet you’ll have a chance to get close to Liu Qian within a day. Report any news to us immediately. Don’t make any decisions on your own.”
“Alright,” Song Kai replied with a smile.
