Chapter 087: Three Drinks Are a Must, the Goddess as a Shield
Around seven in the evening, Liu Ying tugged Song Kai along, heading outside where a white Geely was parked at the entrance—this car belonged to Huang Yun.
Huang Yun tossed the keys to Song Kai. “Hey, handsome, you can drive, right? I borrowed this from my brother; it’s a manual, and I’m not used to it.”
Song Kai nodded. “I don’t have a license, but I’ve taken lessons from professional race drivers before.”
“Stop bragging!” Liu Ying climbed into the car.
Twenty minutes later, they arrived at a restaurant on the outskirts of Tengyun City, Seaview Tower.
The restaurant truly lived up to its name, with over forty floors, making it the tallest building in this third-tier city.
As they parked, Song Kai looked at the Seaview Restaurant ahead, murmuring, “Your classmates must be really well-off, holding a graduation party here. The average cost per person must be at least three thousand.”
Liu Ying walked over. “Yes, actually, though our school is just a technical college—Tengyun Police Academy—it’s not easy to get in. Most get in through connections. After graduating, if you have some contacts and pass the civil service exam, you can get a decent job.”
Song Kai nodded. “I see.”
Just then, a black Audi pulled up in the distance. A slightly chubby guy got out of the Q5, spotted Liu Ying, and hurried over. “Hey, Liu Ying, you finally made it! We were worried you wouldn’t come! Hello, Huang Yun.”
Liu Ying smiled at the chubby man. “Hello, Wang Yue.”
Wang Yue approached. “Let’s go up. Almost everyone’s here. Who’s he?”
“My friend,” Liu Ying said, wrapping her arms around Song Kai’s. “Handsome, right? I met him during yoga class.”
“What?” Wang Yue’s expression changed as he saw Liu Ying holding Song Kai’s arm. “Uh, how… why… at our class graduation party…”
Liu Ying smiled at Wang Yue. “You said we could bring family. By the way, didn’t you bring your girlfriend?”
“Uh… haha, she didn’t come. You go ahead, twelfth floor, I need to grab something from my car…” With that, Wang Yue headed back to his Audi Q5.
Inside the car, Wang Yue pulled out his phone and dialed a number. “Hey, boss, plans have changed. Liu Ying brought her boyfriend!”
“Boyfriend?” Li Gang sounded puzzled on the other end. “Since when does Liu Ying have a boyfriend?”
“Apparently, she met him during yoga. Damn, who’d have thought after three years with no boyfriend, she’d go wild right after graduation and give herself away!” Wang Yue said bitterly.
Li Gang snorted coldly. “Impossible. She must have found a stand-in at the last minute. Anyway, stick to the plan. No matter what, we have to get Liu Ying drunk tonight.”
“Got it!”
…
Meanwhile, Liu Ying, Huang Yun, and Song Kai had already reached the twelfth floor.
Inside the Qianqiu Pavilion private room, the students were already eating and drinking.
Liu Ying entered, and everyone greeted her. A strong-looking young man walked over, laughing heartily. “Ah! The goddess has finally arrived. Wonderful! Even though the teachers aren’t here yet, with the goddess present, the occasion is perfect.”
Everyone applauded.
The class was small, fewer than twenty people.
They split into two tables.
The young man walked up to Song Kai. “Hello, I’m Li Gang. I hear you’re our goddess’s boyfriend. Pleasure to meet you!” As he spoke, Li Gang extended his hand for a handshake.
Song Kai smiled, reaching out as well.
But Liu Ying quickly pulled Song Kai’s arm close, stopping him from shaking hands. She laughed. “Li Gang, he’s my boyfriend. Don’t bully him. Let’s sit.” Liu Ying dragged Song Kai to a seat.
It was early summer; though Liu Ying’s figure wasn’t voluptuous, hugging Song Kai’s arm, he could still sense a certain softness and elasticity. Clearly, attending this party had its perks.
Li Gang narrowed his eyes, saying nothing more.
After they sat, Liu Ying whispered in Song Kai’s ear, “Be careful. Li Gang practices Iron Palm. He’s powerful; he can break three bricks with one strike. Even our instructors don’t dare challenge him. Don’t shake hands with him.”
Song Kai nodded indifferently.
At the table, classmates drank and chatted, sharing memories as they prepared to go their separate ways.
Across the room, Li Gang, Wang Yue, and Tang Cheng sat together. They shared a dorm and had influential backgrounds, known as the Three Musketeers of Tengyun Police Academy.
Their biggest regret in three years was never even touching Liu Ying’s hand.
They were unwilling to let it go. They felt they had to seize this graduation dinner to fulfill their wish—to get Liu Ying drunk and take her to a separate private room. Even if they couldn’t truly have her, stripping her and taking photos would suffice.
Li Gang whispered, “Alright, Wang Yue, you go first. Toast a round. Let’s get rid of that fool Song Kai first.”
“Okay!”
Wang Yue stood and walked over to Song Kai’s table.
Song Kai was enjoying his meal. As Liu Ying had said, the food and drink here were excellent.
Wang Yue approached Huang Yun, laughing. “Huang Yun, thanks for looking after me these three years, always passing answers during exams. Come, let’s have a drink.”
Wang Yue held a glass filled with white liquor.
Huang Yun poured herself some red wine to drink with Wang Yue.
Wang Yue quickly stopped her, laughing. “This isn’t the occasion for red wine—it’s too low-class. Let’s drink Wuliangye.” He poured Huang Yun a large glass.
Clearly, Wang Yue’s group intended to get Huang Yun, the shield, drunk first, as she was Liu Ying’s close friend and a bit of a nuisance.
Huang Yun’s face went pale. She quickly waved her hand, refusing.
Wang Yue wouldn’t let her off, persisting with persuasion.
Helpless, Huang Yun turned to Liu Ying. “Liu Ying, I’ll borrow your boyfriend for a bit.”
Liu Ying laughed, “Careful how you use him. Even I can’t bear to tire him out.”
“I know, I know.” Huang Yun smiled. Then she said to Wang Yue, “Here, he’s the flower’s guardian. If you want to drink with me or Liu Ying, drink with him instead.”
Wang Yue, hearing Liu Ying’s words, felt even more jealous. Although Liu Ying had just joked about not wanting to tire Song Kai out, to Wang Yue it sounded like she meant she couldn’t bear to wear him out in bed.
Wang Yue sneered inwardly, looking at Song Kai. “Alright, man, you’ve really scored big. Our class flower—no, our school’s goddess—just fell into your hands. Come, no more words, let’s drink!”
Song Kai picked up his glass, glanced at it, then let go, and with a crash, the glass fell to the floor and shattered.
Wang Yue was stunned, his expression darkening as he stared at Song Kai. “What’s your deal?”
The others in the class watched Song Kai and Wang Yue. Li Gang had already stood up and was walking over.
Wang Yue sneered, “What, you’re disrespecting me?”
Song Kai laughed, patting Wang Yue’s shoulder. “How could I? You’re Liu Ying’s classmate, so you’re mine too. Honestly, I’m grateful you all didn’t manage to win Liu Ying over these three years… With our connection, how can we drink from such tiny glasses? We need big ones! Those big glasses, of course…”
Song Kai’s words sounded friendly, but were actually sharp sarcasm, mocking Wang Yue and the others for failing to win Liu Ying over in three years.
Wang Yue’s hand trembled in anger, but he quickly sneered, thinking to himself, This idiot! We were just trying to figure out how to get him drunk, and now he’s volunteering to switch to bigger glasses. Even better—once he’s drunk, we’ll give him a beating.
Song Kai grabbed two glasses from the center of the table—thick glass tumblers, probably meant for tea.
“Come!” Song Kai filled his glass.
Wang Yue laughed and filled his own. “Good! Song Kai, you’re straightforward. Let’s go!”
“Hm?” Song Kai looked at Wang Yue, his expression suddenly darkening. “One? Are you looking down on me? If we’re only having one, forget it.”
“What’s wrong now?” Wang Yue stared at Song Kai.
Song Kai said, “We have a rule where I come from: first-time drinkers must have three glasses. So, either three, or none!”
“What!” Wang Yue was genuinely stunned. He looked at Song Kai, then at his own glass, swallowing hard. Three glasses? Each holds at least 200 milliliters—three is over half a liter! All at once? That’s asking to drink yourself to death!
Everyone in the private room was dumbfounded, staring at Song Kai as if he were a monster.
Liu Ying grew anxious. She’d invited Song Kai to protect her, never imagining he’d turn out to be a drunk! She’d have to carry him home herself!
Song Kai smiled at Wang Yue. “So, what do you say?”
Wang Yue looked back at Li Gang.
Li Gang nodded.
Wang Yue steeled himself, looking at Song Kai. “Fine, real hero! Let’s drink!”
Song Kai tilted his head back, downing the first glass of white liquor in one gulp. He suppressed the alcohol with the Nine Thunder internal energy, pushing it through his stomach, not letting it linger.
Wang Yue, seeing how easily Song Kai drank, followed suit, gulping down his own glass. His stomach burned fiercely.
Song Kai opened another bottle, poured for both, and downed his second glass. Wang Yue stared at the liquor, nearly in tears—he’d never drunk white liquor like this before. Forty-two percent Wuliangye!
“There’s one more,” Song Kai said lightly, then calmly drank the third glass.
Wang Yue closed his eyes and forced down the third glass. No sooner had he finished than he hiccuped, and the alcohol rushed straight to his brain. In an instant, the room spun.
Wang Yue gripped the table, staring at Song Kai, his tongue thick, “Good! Well done! I, Wang Yue, admit defeat! But, Song… Song Kai, tonight, your girlfriend… she’s ours. We’re going to take pictures for the memories…”
