Pulling back the bedsheet, he revealed the woman's figure and face—she was truly beautiful, delicate, and not much older than himself. At that moment, though she was still unconscious from his earlier blow, her breathing was hot and heavy, and her lovely face was flushed with waves of crimson, a sign that something was very wrong—she had clearly been drugged.

Song Kai touched her forehead; as he suspected, it was burning hot. If he didn't neutralize the poison from the drug, this woman would likely experience further complications, perhaps even long-term hormonal disorders.

"Ah, alas! It seems this poor Taoist is obliged to lend a hand..." Song Kai sighed in resignation.

He gazed at the scene before him, his heart pounding. In his previous life, he'd been secluded on a mountain for more than twenty years; in this life, his parents watched over him strictly. The sight before him was something he'd only ever seen in dreams.

Song Kai swallowed hard. The girl's youthful beauty and allure were overwhelming—how could a poor Taoist possibly resist?

At that moment, the girl on the bed began to wake from her stupor, twisting and writhing more intensely. Clearly, she had never gone through something like this before and had no idea what to do to alleviate her discomfort.

Song Kai let out a sigh. As tempting as the situation was, this girl was as much a victim as anyone. If he took advantage of her now, he would be no better than a beast. Still, after tonight, perhaps he could win this girl over with a clear conscience.

He slowly leaned over her and, with a large hand, reached below her navel.

Several minutes later, after the girl had gasped her way through wave after wave of exhaustion, she fell into a deep sleep. Song Kai, too, was utterly spent. He shook out his numb arm, took a shower, and soon succumbed to slumber himself.

He was truly exhausted; the merging of souls was a taxing ordeal, and on top of that, he had to resist the temptations of the little seductress on the bed.

He didn't know how much time had passed when he felt a weight pressing down on him. Groggily opening his eyes, he saw the girl beside him stirring awake as well.

Their eyes met—his wide, hers large and round—locked in a speechless, awkward silence.

"Ah!" Liu Miaoyu shrieked in terror. Only now did she realize she had spent the whole night clutching a man in her sleep—yet, in her dream, it had been her stuffed bear!

Song Kai sat up abruptly, scratching his head.

Slap!

Liu Miaoyu swung her hand and struck Song Kai's face.

Stunned, Song Kai clutched his cheek and pointed at her. "Hey! Crazy woman, are you insane?"

"You bastard!" Liu Miaoyu was truly furious and flustered, for she now saw that Song Kai was wrapped in nothing but a bath towel, while she herself had lost her dress and was only wearing a small camisole—which had slipped down, leaving her exposed.

There was no question—her innocence had been ruined by this man!

Song Kai's gaze dropped lower. In the morning light, she looked breathtakingly beautiful. He was about to scold her, but instead, he swallowed twice.

Seeing his eyes, Liu Miaoyu hurriedly covered her chest with her hands. But then, thinking her virtue was lost, what was the point? She burst into tears, sobbing bitterly, twin streams of tears running like brooks down her cheeks.

Song Kai hurried to comfort her. "Come on, don't cry, don't cry—honestly, you were cuter when you were unconscious."

Between sobs, Liu Miaoyu pointed at him. "I'm going to report you! I'll go to the police, you pervert! Just wait!"

Song Kai quickly protested, "Alright, alright, listen—yesterday you were the one who was proactive, and I didn't actually do anything. I only helped with my hands, nothing else."

"That's a lie! I know what happened last night! You—you did that to me!" In truth, Liu Miaoyu didn't really understand, but she did remember the sensations from last night—even though they were wonderful, her innocence was more important.

Song Kai pointed at her legs. "If you don't believe me, check for yourself—you'll see your virtue is intact."

"Pervert!" She hurled a pillow at him with all her strength.

Song Kai dodged just in time.

Liu Miaoyu leapt from the bed and ran into the bathroom.

A little while later, she emerged, face flushed, wrapped in a bath towel. She shot Song Kai a fierce glare. "Count yourself lucky... Hmph. Anyway, thank you."

With that, she snatched her dress from the bed and returned to the bathroom, where the sound of running water soon followed.

Song Kai sat outside and sighed. So much for good deeds—he had resisted temptation the whole night, and not only was she ungrateful, she even slapped him!

Damn it.

After a long while, Liu Miaoyu emerged from the bathroom, having thoroughly washed herself. Her hair was tied in a simple ponytail, and she wore a long dress, looking pure and lovely.

Song Kai looked at her and suddenly realized she looked even better dressed than undressed.

Blushing, Liu Miaoyu pointed at him. "Pervert! Can't you at least put your clothes on?"

He grinned as he dressed. "Hello, my name is Song Kai."

"Hello, my foot! You took advantage of me the first time we met—how am I supposed to be friendly?" She pouted in indignation, but paused when she saw his clothes, pointing at him.

"Wait... Are you a student at Tengyun No. 1 High School?"

Song Kai glanced at his jacket—his school uniform. He scratched his head. "Looks like it. Are you a student too?"

She glared at him and quickly denied it, "Of course not! I just live near Tengyun No. 1."

Song Kai didn't think much of it. Sitting on the bed, he said, "Let’s sort things out. Last night, you were drugged and someone got you drunk—you realize that, right?"

Liu Miaoyu nodded, eyeing him suspiciously. "I think you set it up."

"Don't accuse me! I was set up too—two guys got me drunk, then I ran into you, and they tried to push me into your room. Right after that, the police raided the place..."

"What? The police? We—what did we..." Liu Miaoyu looked at him nervously.

Song Kai chuckled. "I hid you and managed to fool the police, but it's obvious someone wanted to ruin both our reputations. I may not be anyone important, but I have a fiancée. If she finds out I fooled around with a woman outside, she'll definitely use it as an excuse to dump me. She already dislikes me and is just looking for a reason."

Liu Miaoyu huffed, muttering, "You're no saint yourself—just a high schooler and already engaged. Did your parents think you were too ugly to ever find a wife on your own?"

Song Kai shot her an exasperated look—this woman could really hold a grudge, but she was undeniably beautiful.

She checked the time. "I need to go. I was out all night, my parents will be furious. And as for last night, you'd better keep your mouth shut, or you might not even know how you died. My dad is a ruthless man!"

Song Kai nodded immediately. "Alright, but be careful—don't fall into anyone else's trap."

"Don't worry, it must have been those wretched women. I won't let them get away with it!" She gritted her pretty little teeth.

She started toward the door, then paused and turned back. "You... you should take me home."

"Huh?" Song Kai looked at her in surprise. "Afraid those women will come after you?"

"It's not that!" She stomped her foot, her face reddening. "I... I don't have... well, I'm not wearing anything under my dress. I don't dare take a cab alone."

"You're the pervert—why don't you have any underwear?" Song Kai teased, though inside he was more than a little flustered.

"You're the pervert!" She threw another pillow at him. "You ruined my clothes last night—how am I supposed to wear them, you jerk!"

Song Kai had no more excuses.

He put on his school uniform and escorted Liu Miaoyu out of the hotel. Together, they hailed a taxi to a villa district near Tengyun No. 1 High School.

It seemed Liu Miaoyu’s family was quite wealthy.

When the car stopped, Liu Miaoyu walked into the community. Song Kai waved, about to ask for her contact information, when his phone rang.

It was Xu Ling, his fiancée.

"Hello?" Song Kai answered.

"I’m giving you five minutes—be at the entrance of Haitian Company immediately!" A cold female voice snapped, then hung up.

Song Kai paused, suddenly remembering that today was Saturday, and he had agreed to meet Xu Ling in the morning to visit her relatives.

"Driver, take me to Haitian Company—quickly," he instructed.

"Alright, alright. By the way, your girlfriend is really pretty. Take it from me, kid—find a girlfriend while you’re still in school. Once you’re out in the real world, if you don’t have money, you’ll be single forever. If you do, you might just end up being someone’s backup plan. Life is unpredictable, sigh..." The taxi driver lit a cigarette and exhaled a plume of lonely smoke.

Song Kai had no interest in explaining. He rubbed his temples, sorting through his tangled life.

Just a month ago, Song Kai had been a carefree rich kid, a poor student who spent his days reading novels in class, napping, and playing games. His father, loaded with money, spent over three hundred thousand to send him to the best high school, and, worried he’d amount to nothing, arranged an engagement for him with Xu Ling—a well-known prodigy and the daughter of the Xu family.

Xu Ling was beautiful and, more importantly, brilliant. At twenty, she already had a degree in finance from Harvard and was said to be coming back to develop her career.

Everything had been smooth sailing—until a month ago, when his parents vanished without a trace, the family business collapsed overnight, funds dried up, banks came knocking, shareholders fled, and the Song family went bankrupt, losing even their home.

Sigh...

Song Kai exhaled deeply. He knew that today’s meeting with Xu Ling’s family would be anything but pleasant—they’d probably force him to break off the engagement.

The taxi pulled up. Xu Ling stood at the entrance, wearing light blue skinny jeans and a pearl blouse, youthful yet composed. At that moment, however, her stunning face was frosted with cold disdain.

"What a beautiful woman," the driver murmured, forgetting to collect his fare.

Song Kai grinned triumphantly. Xu Ling was not only beautiful but a true genius—and, most importantly, his fiancée! With a wife like her, he couldn’t let her slip away.

"Xu Ling, you look gorgeous today!" Song Kai hopped out of the taxi, grinning.

Xu Ling glared at him, her lovely eyes filled with scorn and impatience. "Song Kai, I, Xu Ling, despise men who are tardy, lazy, and useless! I’m not breaking off our engagement because of your family’s bankruptcy, but my man must at least be somewhat worthy of me—not some slacker who’s always late and comes in last in every exam! Besides, today’s banquet will include not just my parents and grandfather, but also a distant cousin who’s been pursuing me for ages. Song Kai, don’t embarrass me!"

Song Kai understood her meaning, but he was no longer the man he used to be. He looked her up and down and said firmly, "I won’t let you down."

Xu Ling shot him a sideways glance, muttering under her breath, "I don’t know where you get your confidence." Her words were quiet, but Song Kai caught every syllable.

He knew exactly what awaited him, but at this moment, what did he have to fear?
