Chapter 148: A Brick Falling from the Sky, A Thunderstorm Night
Song Kai sat in Liu Yue's auto repair shop, continuously playing a driving video game.
Meanwhile, Liu Yue and his two companions were diligently practicing the combat techniques Song Kai had taught them, practicing with an almost insatiable hunger and exhausting effort.
"Hey! Song Kai," Liu Yue called out, walking over and wiping the sweat from his forehead. "These moves are genuinely useful. When facing a crisis in the future, they will definitely secure a decisive victory in a single strike."
Spinning the steering wheel, Song Kai replied, "That only applies to ordinary people. When facing true masters, these moves are useless. They can be used at lower levels, but if someone wants to progress along the path of martial arts, they must start from the basics and advance step-by-step."
Liu Yue was momentarily stunned. At that moment, he suddenly realized that Song Kai's realm of understanding was perhaps entirely different from theirs.
Giving a thumbs-up, Liu Yue asked, "So, how is it? Have you cleared the first stage yet?"
"The first stage? I'm on the fourth stage now," Song Kai said, driving while talking. "The routes you designed simply aren't dangerous enough."
"What?" Liu Yue was startled. He hurried over to look at the computer monitor, and sure enough, the route Song Kai was currently racing on was a rugged coastal highway built right along the water. Traveling at a speed of one hundred and twenty miles per hour, Song Kai maneuvered through the road like a gust of wind, all while casually chatting with him!
The crucial part was that this was only the third day Song Kai had ever practiced!
"You're incredible!" Liu Yue's mouth hung wide open. "Are you a born racing god?"
Song Kai chuckled softly.
At that exact moment, a fierce wave crashed violently against the shore.
Song Kai rapidly shifted gears, tapped the brakes, and stabilized the steering wheel.
The car navigated through the hazard swiftly, safe and sound.
Liu Yue gave him another thumbs-up. "Awesome, truly awesome. It took me several months just to clear this stage."
Song Kai explained, "This is nothing more than a test of eyesight and reaction speed. My reflexes and vision are much better than yours, so as long as you grasp the method, practice frequently, and familiarize yourself with the vehicle's characteristics, you adapt very quickly."
Liu Yue nodded. "That's true, but reaction speed isn't something that's easy to train. Besides, in real-world driving, people naturally worry about their own lives and wouldn't dare drive this fast. Well, Song Kai, at the rate you're going, you'll have my training software completely beaten in less than a month."
Song Kai laughed heartily.
Just then, his cell phone rang.
Song Kai picked up his phone, and the voice of a man trying hard to act cool came through the speaker. "Hey, is this Song Kai? It's your Brother Xiang."
"Oh, 'Eat Shit'—no, wait, 'Eat Xiang', it's you," Song Kai said, driving with one hand while wedging the phone between his ear and shoulder.
Upon hearing this, the man on the other end instantly flew into a rage, shouting through the earpiece, "Will you please speak properly, you bastard! That character isn't pronounced 'Eat'! It's pronounced 'Chi'! Second tone, rising pitch, Chi Xiang! Not 'Eat Xiang'!"
Song Kai's ear buzzed from the volume, and he quickly said, "Got it, got it. What's up, Brother Chi-Xiang?"
Chi Xiang was furious. He had originally intended to put on a cool front, but hearing Song Kai mock him like that completely ruined his swagger. He blurted out, "Big Bi's men are coming to hack you to pieces in the next couple of days, so watch your back."
With that, the phone hung up.
Song Kai paused for a moment. Well, Big Bi was finally going to make a move against him. But for what reason?
Was it because he had helped Jiang Yujing earlier? Or because he owed money to the casino?
Or perhaps someone else had hired Big Bi to assassinate him on purpose?
Song Kai frowned slightly, though he quickly dismissed the thought and went back to playing his driving game.
As for Big Bi, Song Kai certainly wasn't worried about him. What genuinely concerned him were the forces of the Holy Ruins and Ding Zhe!
One must always maintain a low profile in this world—a very low profile!
Otherwise, once he triggered the vigilance of the Holy Ruins and Ding Zhe, his doom wouldn't be far off.
Driving skills were also crucial; in critical moments, they served as life-saving abilities.
Song Kai practiced until late into the night before getting up to leave.
Leaving through the back door of the repair shop and walking home, Song Kai pondered for a moment, then casually picked up two bricks from the ground and took them with him.
He had recently discovered that these objects were quite handy in a fight. They wouldn't kill anyone, yet their lethality was immense. One brick to the head, and the opponent would instantly lose all combat capability.
It was already past eleven o'clock.
The weather was extremely hot.
Song Kai frowned. Summer hadn't even arrived yet, and there was still some time before the college entrance examinations. Why was the weather already this scorching hot?
Entering his home, the living room felt relatively cool. Song Kai set the bricks down and walked further inside, only to find Tang Ying and Wu Hongying lying together on a floor mattress, binge-watching the currently popular television drama, *The First Half of My Life*.
Both beauties were dressed in white nightgowns, causing Song Kai to swallow hard repeatedly.
However, he didn't let it show, choosing instead to say casually, "Hey, you two still aren't sleeping? Staying up late is bad for your skin!"
Wu Hongying glanced at Song Kai and retorted, "Cut the crap. Tomorrow is Saturday, and we both have the day off."
Song Kai let out an "oh" and headed into the bathroom to shower.
After bathing and changing into a pair of loose shorts, Song Kai returned to his bedroom and loudly announced in an exaggerated tone, "Ouch, it's so hot! With this ghost of weather, there's simply no way to sleep."
"If you think it's hot, go install an air conditioner," Wu Hongying snapped back at him. "Your girlfriend can buy you a car, so buying us both a small air conditioner shouldn't be too hard for her. The air conditioner in the living room is way too old anyway. Why don't you have your pretty girlfriend replace that one too? Her family must be very wealthy."
Song Kai emerged from the bedroom, walked over to the floor mattress, and said, "How could I possibly have the nerve to ask? One of you is a doctor, and the other is a policewoman. Why don't you buy one?"
Wu Hongying kicked him with her foot. "Why is my salary so low? Isn't it all your fault? If you hadn't wrecked a pair of my motorcycles, would my bonuses have been entirely deducted? Go away, go away. This is where two women sleep; you have the nerve to crawl up here as a man? Shoo, shoo."
Looking pitiful, Song Kai said, "It really is hot. It's completely impossible to stay in the bedroom, plus it's so stuffy—it feels like it's going to rain."
Wu Hongying shook Tang Ying. "Tang Ying, hurry up and chase this shameless guy away."
Tang Ying laughed. "It's so hot, just let him lie here for a while. Come on, Song Kai, sleep in the middle."
With a whoosh, Song Kai leaped over. "Sister Tang Ying is still the best."
"Tang Ying, have you lost your mind?" Wu Hongying was left speechless.
Tang Ying chuckled and said, "Alright, alright, stop disturbing my TV show."
Wu Hongying curled her lips in displeasure and went back to watching.
Lying right between the two women and breathing in the faint fragrance of their hair, Song Kai smiled happily.
While he didn't have the opportunity to get handsy, this alone was already blissful enough.
Thinking this, Song Kai yawned and promptly fell asleep.
Wu Hongying and Tang Ying watched another half-episode. Seeing how peacefully Song Kai was sleeping, Wu Hongying was utterly speechless. She said to Tang Ying, "You really love spoiling him. This kid sure has a lot of romantic luck."
Tang Ying smiled slightly and said, "Let's sleep. Be careful tonight—who knows, Song Kai might just grope his way under your skirt."
"He'd definitely touch you first," Wu Hongying giggled.
The two women carefully arranged their nightgowns and closed their eyes.
Song Kai slept quite soundly until, in his half-asleep state, a sudden crack of thunder rang out. The thunder rumbled fiercely like a thousand horses charging across a plain, followed by a deafening explosion that burst nearby.
Song Kai snapped his eyes wide open. *Holy crap! Heavenly thunder! The heavenly thunder is here!*
He instantly wanted to leap up and bolt outside.
At that moment, Tang Ying let out a frightened yelp and threw her body toward Song Kai's side.
"It's fine, it's just thunder, Sister Tang Ying," Song Kai comforted, wrapping his arms around her.
In the dark, he couldn't see clearly, but the area and proportions of Tang Ying's chest were substantial.
Song Kai's right hand happened to press directly onto it.
It was a solid, firm press.
Taking advantage of the moment, Song Kai patted her gently to comfort her. "There, there, the thunder has passed."
Tang Ying shoved Song Kai away. "Where are you groping! I was just having a nightmare, you scared me to death!"
Song Kai chuckled sheepishly. He bounded up, immediately threw on his clothes, slung a backpack over his shoulder, and sprinted toward the door.
"Where are you going?" Tang Ying asked.
"Out, got some things to handle. You guys go back to sleep." Holding his two bricks, Song Kai dashed hurriedly down the stairs.
Tang Ying looked confusedly at Wu Hongying. "What is that kid up to?"
"Who cares? Let's keep sleeping," Wu Hongying said, wrapping her arms around Tang Ying and giving her a couple of squeezes. "Wow, these are really big."
"You're courting death!" Tang Ying slapped Wu Hongying's shoulder.
Wu Hongying laughed. "What? A monk can touch them, but I can't? Song Kai can reach out, but I can't? How biased!"
Tang Ying suddenly pulled the blanket over Wu Hongying's head, and the two women burst into a fit of playful scuffling.
By this time, Song Kai had already gotten into his car and was driving toward Tengyun City's Tengshan Park nearby.
Just as he drove out of the residential complex's gates, Song Kai spotted dozens of men carrying weapons walking toward the compound.
The person leading the group appeared to be Black Mountain himself.
The security measures in the complex were average to begin with, and the on-duty guard took one look at the armed mob, dove straight under his desk, and naturally didn't dare to question them.
Song Kai rubbed the bridge of his nose and muttered to himself, "Could these be the guys Big Bi sent to assassinate me? This is way too low-end."
Thinking this, Song Kai rolled down the car window and shouted to the group, "Hey, Brother Mountain!"
"Who's that?" Black Mountain looked up.
*Thump...*
A brick descended from the sky...
