Chapter 46: A Bit Adorable
“Sure! By the way, does my mom know that you’ve come here to study?”
“Auntie probably doesn’t know yet. I haven’t told anyone.”
“You really know how to keep a secret!”
Yan Yi smiled. For a celebrity, what’s most important? Privacy. If he couldn’t even keep secrets, how could he call himself a star?
Xie Xu: “……”
He pressed his lips together and, expressionless, opened the matchmaking app. By the end of class, he’d won three rounds of chicken dinner in a row.
After class, feeling irritable, he took off his Bluetooth earphones and gazed out the window.
He cursed Lu Yiqi in his heart countless times.
Usually, after class at noon, Lu Yiqi would go to lunch with either Chen Ziyi or Xie Xu. Xie Xu had thought she would invite him, but as soon as class ended, she cheerfully called Chen Ziyi to go eat, and Chen Ziyi agreed.
Xie Xu let out a breath of relief.
At least it wasn’t Yan Yi.
The next second—
“Brother Yan Yi, do you want to come eat with us too?”
Xie Xu: “!!!”
Before Yan Yi could answer, Xie Xu jumped in: “Shouldn’t a big star like you be eating in a private room? Aren’t you worried about being recognized if you eat in a public place?”
Lu Yiqi: “……”
Oh, right, she’d almost forgotten. Yan Yi wasn’t an ordinary person anymore. He couldn’t just eat in the cafeteria with everyone else; it wouldn’t be good if someone recognized him.
As she was pondering what to do, Xie Xu’s hand landed carelessly on her shoulder, as if they were brothers, and he spoke with a casual air: “I know a good place—it has private rooms, and it’s big enough for the four of us.”
He’d specifically said “us,” including himself.
Lu Yiqi trusted Xie Xu’s taste in restaurants.
So she ignored the hand on her shoulder. “Sounds good to me. What about you, Yan Yi? Ziyi?”
Chen Ziyi didn’t care either way and nodded. “I’m fine with it.”
Yan Yi nodded as well. “Then we’ll trouble you.”
The words were deftly chosen, and Xie Xu caught on at once.
He raised his brows. “It’s only right to look after my deskmate’s friends.”
The two exchanged a round of verbal sparring. Xie Xu led the way out first.
Yan Yi put on his mask and cap and followed.
The four of them arrived at the restaurant Xie Xu recommended and booked a private room.
The table was round, with five chairs.
Lu Yiqi picked a seat at random. Xie Xu immediately sat on her left, while Yan Yi, after a moment’s hesitation, naturally took the seat on her right.
Chen Ziyi: “???”
Aren’t I her best friend?
Why don’t I have the right to sit next to her?
Small, pitiful, helpless—but with a big appetite.
Chen Ziyi, who could eat, devoured several bowls of rice.
Lu Yiqi was astonished.
“Are you okay?” she asked. “You’re eating so much, it’s a little scary.”
“I’m fine.” Chen Ziyi shook her head, and then, unable to help herself, let out a loud burp.
Suddenly, the room went silent.
Chen Ziyi: “……”
The next second, Yan Yi’s lips curled, and he let out a soft laugh.
In the quiet, that laugh was especially conspicuous.
Chen Ziyi: “……”
Oh my god.
My embarrassing moment was not only seen by my idol, but he even laughed at me.
Where in No. 1 High School is the soil soft enough to bury myself?
Chen Ziyi closed her eyes in despair.
God, strike me down now.
And just then, Lu Yiqi asked, “Brother Yan Yi, what are you laughing at?”
“Nothing,” Yan Yi replied. His low, mellow voice was as rich as the strings of a cello. “I just think your friend is rather cute.”
