Chapter 93: It Was Over
Lu Yiqi hurriedly shook her head. “No, no.”
Chen Ziyi patted her chest in relief. “That’s good. I thought you two were together and didn’t even tell me. You scared me half to death—I really thought I wasn’t your best friend anymore.”
“Pfft.” Lu Yiqi laughed. “How could that be? If I ever fall in love, you’ll be the first to know. And you, too—if you start dating someone, you have to tell me first.”
“Okay.”
And so, at that moment, a vow between sisters came into being.
The two of them returned hand in hand.
When the three men saw them come back, their eyes all fell at once on their intertwined hands.
Xie Xu nudged He Shi’s shoulder. Let your woman let go of my woman.
He Shi sneered inwardly. As if—it’s obviously your woman dragging mine along. My Ziyi is not the type to take the initiative.
Xie Xu shot him a vicious glare, then could not help saying, “Can you walk any faster? You’re dragging your feet like some old maid.”
Lu Yiqi muttered under her breath, “We are women, after all...”
But she still quickened her pace.
All five of them entered the restaurant in a rather grand display, and Yan Yi’s full disguise drew plenty of attention.
On top of that, the people standing beside Yan Yi were all handsome men and lovely women, so quite a few passersby secretly wondered whether they were some newly debuted celebrities who just weren’t very famous yet.
Xie Xu, as usual, asked the owner for a private room.
Halfway through the meal, He Shi noticed something was off. Normally, when they ate together, the conversation was lively enough—so why was it dead silent today?
Unusual. Far too unusual.
But after thinking it over, he realized that given the situation today, there really wasn’t much to talk about with the three of them sitting at the same table. Each person had their own thoughts.
He turned to look at Chen Ziyi, and suddenly, as if something had occurred to him, he took out his phone and sent her a message.
Then he called her name in a low voice.
Chen Ziyi turned her head. Seeing He Shi point at his phone, she guessed he wanted her to check it.
She nodded in a dazed sort of understanding, then opened her phone and, as expected, saw his message.
He Shi: Didn’t you say you’d treat me to lunch today? So how do we count this meal?
Chen Ziyi blinked. She remembered that she really had said something like that, but with the way things were now, she clearly couldn’t treat him today.
After thinking for a moment, she replied: Then today doesn’t count. I’ll treat you to lunch tomorrow instead to make it up to you, but you have to remind me tomorrow, or I’m afraid I’ll forget.
He Shi: Okay.
He Shi opened his mouth, smiling silently like an idiot.
Xie Xu, who had no mind for eating, noticed it and sent him a message of his own: What are you doing? Having a fit?
He Shi immediately took a screenshot and sent it straight to Xie Xu, adding: Xu bro, look at my new progress. Hahaha.
Xie Xu: ...
Damn it. Toxic.
He should never have asked what was wrong.
What else could have made him grin like a fool lately, if not Chen Ziyi?
And yet he ate breakfast and lunch with Chen Ziyi every day and still had made no progress at all? Hah. Nothing to it.
Xie Xu’s gaze drifted from Yan Yi to Lu Yiqi, then back to Yan Yi again.
He needed to find a way to get Yan Yi out of here. This kid was really getting in the way. There was already no progress to begin with, and now there was an extra stumbling block eyeing Lu Yiqi hungrily. It was enough to make him irritated.
He seemed to know the boss of an entertainment company. If he offered him a few favors and had him arrange for Yan Yi to go shoot a drama...
Preferably for three or four months.
By the time he came back, the flowers would already have long since withered.
