The next morning, at dawn.

The doorbell rang incessantly, chiming loudly.

Lu Yiqi was still lost in her dreams, not yet fully awake, when her mother’s booming voice blared from the next room, “Lu Yiqi! Go open the door for your mother! It’s so noisy! Disturbing my sleep.”

Lu Yiqi opened her eyes.

Who could it be, so early in the morning—are they out of their mind? Why should she be the one to answer the door? She absolutely refused.

She pulled the blanket over her head again, but before she could drift back off, her phone rang.

She reached out from under the covers, found her phone on the nightstand, and tucked it back beneath the blanket.

The screen displayed the name Xie Xu.

Why was he calling her?

But since this was the first time Xie Xu had ever called her, Lu Yiqi answered.

“Hello.” Her voice was cold and sharp.

“Hello, what’s wrong with you? Why are you calling me so early? I’m still asleep.”

“Pig!”

“???”

“No wonder I rang the doorbell for ages and no one came to open it.”

“So it’s you, ruining my morning dreams!”

“What? Do you know what time it is? It’s already six-thirty!”

“It’s only six-thirty, man…”

Lu Yiqi sensed that Xie Xu’s next words would be, “Get up, let’s go!”

And sure enough—

“It’s six-thirty, what are you still sleeping for?” Xie Xu’s tone was almost fierce, “Get up and start studying!”

“???”

Lu Yiqi’s first reaction was: Did I hear that right? This man wants me to get up at six-thirty… to study?

…Damn!

“Wait, are you serious?”

“Of course!”

Lu Yiqi was instantly wide awake, “Are you crazy? Who gets up so early just to study for you?”

Xie Xu sounded utterly justified, “Didn’t you promise to continue your tutoring today?”

Lu Yiqi blinked; she vaguely remembered agreeing.

But still…

“I never told you to come so early! You could’ve picked noon or afternoon—wouldn’t that be better?”

The main thing was… she was really, truly tired.

“Well, you didn’t say what time I should come. I woke up, had nothing to do, so I came over.”

“……”

She was utterly defeated.

“Fine, wait there.”

After hanging up, Lu Yiqi resigned herself, sat up in bed, took thirty seconds to gather herself, slipped on her slippers, and shuffled to the door.

When she opened it, she was greeted by Xie Xu’s handsome face. He had been waiting for a while; his expression carried a hint of impatience, his lips pressed into a cold line.

Seeing her, Xie Xu spoke, “You finally opened the door?”

“Well, here I am,” Lu Yiqi yawned, stepping back, “Come in, I need to brush my teeth and wash my face.”

Xie Xu stepped inside, closed the door behind him, and sat on the sofa to wait.

A few minutes later, Lu Yiqi appeared in his sight, changed into casual clothes and, not surprisingly, yawning several more times.

“So sleepy?”

“Of course. Who gets up at six-something on a weekend? Not sleeping until noon is already an achievement.”

“I do,” he replied quickly. “I’m up at six every day. I finished my morning run before coming to find you. Do you think everyone is as lazy as you?”

Lu Yiqi shot back, “Do you think everyone is as diligent as you?”

She glanced at Xie Xu discreetly. Even in a loose T-shirt, it was easy to see the trim waist and straight shoulders—his physique was excellent.

So he did run every morning; no wonder his figure was so good.

She looked down at herself: all she did was eat and sleep, nothing else.

What a contrast.
